“…What?”

“You know, I was really, really scared.”

From the moment they ran into each other in front of the dining hall, his knees had been trembling with fear.

In that situation, the pure white light had quietly made its presence known, staying by his side.

‘Even when you’re far away, it feels like you’re close…’

Rueg pressed down the fluttering excitement in his chest.

If he looked at Felix again and started blushing here, he felt like he might end up wanting to kiss those full lips without thinking.

“Thank you, Your Highness.”

So for now, he decided to just express his gratitude.

Thinking that, Rueg gave him a bright smile.

Seeing that smile head-on, Felix unconsciously reached out and ruffled Reug’s blond hair roughly.

“You seem to have plenty of energy left, judging by how much you’re talking.”

“……?”

“If you’re not tired, shouldn’t you take care of the remaining work?”

Felix steadied his heart, which had begun pounding heavily, and naturally changed the subject.

At that question, Rueg slowly turned his head toward the window.

Perhaps because he had been unconscious for so long and had also spent quite a while in the bath, darkness had already settled heavily outside.

“…At this hour?”

“……”

“I’m fine since I slept a lot, but…”

Murmuring, Rueg quietly looked at Felix’s face. Unlike Rueg, who had at least been able to rest for a few days thanks to everything that had happened, Felix looked quite tired.

‘Your Highness, you look like you should be sleeping…’

But even if he said it, it didn’t seem like Felix would listen.

After hesitating for a moment, Rueg gathered his courage and grabbed Felix’s arm, trying to pull him down onto the bed.

But…

“What do you think you’re doing?”

He was definitely pulling… so why wasn’t he moving at all?

Normally, if he did this, the other person should fall toward him, right?

While Rueg strained and struggled, Felix simply looked down at the golden crown of his head with a calm expression.

“Don’t waste your strength.”

With that short remark, Felix grabbed Rueg’s arm and pulled him into his embrace.

Rueg’s body was drawn in helplessly.

“…Oof.”

In the blink of an eye, Rueg ended up in Felix’s arms, and he made a dumbfounded expression.

No matter how small his build was, he was still a healthy adult man.

It was embarrassing that Felix hadn’t budged at all when he had pulled with all his strength, and yet Felix could pull him in so easily without even seeming to use any effort.

When Rueg looked at him with a face full of dissatisfaction, Felix smiled and asked,

“Why were you trying to make me lie down? Hmm? Did you want to sleep with me that badly?”

At the softly curling voice, Rueg’s eyes widened without thinking.

“W-Wha— N-No, th-that’s not…!”

In an instant, his face turned red like a tomato.

Seeing him flush so quickly, Felix’s eyes widened in surprise instead. He had only meant it as a joke, but the reaction was far too intense.

“I-I mean… That’s not… I just…!”

As Rueg flailed his arms, stammering with a flushed face, Felix covered his face with one large hand and said,

“Be quiet for a moment.”

“…Yes?”

“I ended up thinking something unnecessary too.”

Saying that, Felix pulled Rueg into his arms.

As if this alone was enough, the gentle hand stroking his back felt comforting. His expression softened without him realizing it, and Rueg rubbed his cheek against Felix’s chest, his face still red.

“…If you’re done teasing me, you should go to sleep now.”

“Why, do you not want to work?”

“No! That’s not it… You said you have trouble sleeping at night, Your Highness. But look at you, the moment you get even a little free time, you’re trying to work again…”

From what Rueg had seen of Felix’s personality so far, if he couldn’t fall asleep, he would probably feel that simply lying there with his eyes closed was a waste of time. And then he would end up getting up and continuing his work.

“I heard somewhere that even if you can’t fall asleep, it’s important to keep a routine and lie down at the right time. I’m staying with you to help with your insomnia too… so how about we set a time at night and go to sleep together?”

Watching Rueg speak gently like that, Felix found himself smiling with quiet satisfaction.
