- Becoming the Terminally-Ill Villain Who Torments His Disciples
- Chapter 107.1 - Side Story II
It’s been about two years since the House of Duke Esteban disappeared into history. And it has also been two years since Cielo and Oscar became part of the “Doberman” unit.
Cielo’s health had recovered quickly, and the once skinny frame now had some flesh on it.
“This winter isn’t too cold, thankfully.”
“Feels about the same as last year to me. Maybe you’ve just gotten healthier.”
Oscar gave a gentle smile and took Cielo’s hand. On his finger sparkled the blue gemstone ring Cielo had slipped on him during their wedding.
Cielo looked down at that hand for a moment before answering with a soft smile.
“Seems like it. Thanks to that, I can move around for long stretches without getting the least bit out of breath.”
It had been years since he’d been able to live in such a healthy body.
At least since he’d possessed this body, it was practically the first time. Cielo’s body had always been weak, and it had only gradually started recovering after the contract with the demons was severed.
Even so, compared to the body he lived in as “Lee Eunwoo,” this one was unavoidably frail.
That body back then was absurdly strong.
Even his bones were so sturdy that despite getting beaten up constantly, he’d never broken a single one.
“I’m glad to see you getting healthier, Master, but…”
Oscar trailed off for a moment and tightened his grip on the hand he was holding.
“…I hope you’re not overdoing it.”
“Overdoing it?”
“You’re always pushing yourself too hard. You don’t even rest when you can, and you’re constantly looking after patients.”
Oscar mumbled with a slight pout on his lips.
Now that Cielo’s health had improved, he had been pushing himself to the limits of his stamina more and more.
It was inevitable when the clinic was flooded with patients. And if any rumors spread about remnants of the demon incident from two years ago, he would rush to the scene to help the people around him.
“I just want to help as many people as I can while I’m healthy. Besides, healing others doesn’t take as much of a toll on my body as it used to.”
Now that the contract was gone and his body had recovered, Cielo could fully utilize his healing ability. Although the cycle still got thrown off at times, he no longer coughed up blood like in the past.
“…And yet, you do know that makes it all the more important to take care of your health.”
Oscar gently tapped Cielo on the bridge of his nose, still pouting.
But Cielo simply smiled and replied.
“Alright, I will. Oh—Oscar, isn’t it time for your training now?”
“…Don’t try to change the subject.”
“I’m not changing the subject. It really is that time. Look, he’s waving at you to hurry over.”
Cielo pointed toward the knight visible through the carriage window.
Oscar narrowed his eyes with a disgruntled expression, then let out a heavy sigh.
“You might be able to brush off my nagging like that, but Lord Doberman… no, Ryan definitely won’t let it slide.”
“Ryan? Why?”
Cielo swallowed dryly, wondering if Ryan was upset about something. Oscar leaned in and whispered in his ear.
“Master—no, dear—he found out you were taking suppressants.”
“….”
Cielo froze. His eyes trembled as he looked up at Oscar, who gave a shrug and continued.
“Of course, I told him.”
“…O-Oscar!”
“I warned you not to take them, didn’t I? When your husband is right there beside you, what kind of omega tries to ride out a heat cycle with suppressants?”
“N-no…!”
“By the way, the suppressants you took? Ryan threw them all away.”
Oscar whispered softly into Cielo’s ear, winked one eye, and then ran off before Cielo could say anything.
Staring at Oscar’s retreating figure, Cielo gulped.
No way…
He couldn’t really be angry… right?
With a stiff expression, Cielo turned to glance toward the entrance of the clinic. He could see Ryan moving about inside, busy with work—but just from his expression, it was impossible to tell if he was upset.
I didn’t have a choice…
Lately, there had been a surge of patients in the capital showing signs of strange addiction symptoms.
Since there was no clear treatment method yet, Oscar and Cielo were using their abilities to care for the afflicted. If Cielo went into heat, all three of them—who were critical to the frontlines—would have to retreat for over a week.
Still, even if he tried to explain this, Ryan would probably just snap at him with something like, “Why are you the one worrying about that? It’s not like there’s no one else!”
“Wh-what do I do now…”
