Cielo was facing the most bewildering moment of his life all thanks to his daughter with two men, Rona.

“Answer me already! Do you like me better, or him?!”

Rona, who had long black hair just like Oscar, asked with her bright blue eyes sparkling.

With her delicate features set on a tiny face, anyone could tell she was Oscar’s daughter.

Still clinging to the hem of Cielo’s pants, Rona pointed angrily toward the approaching boy.

A boy with the same black hair but red eyes — Rona’s fraternal twin brother, Nicholas.

“You shouldn’t ask that, Rona. It’ll make Father uncomfortable. That’s enough.”

The two children, just shy of turning six, did their best to speak clearly as they expressed their thoughts.

“What do you know?!”

Of course, Rona, who had recently lost her baby front teeth, sometimes had a bit of a lisp.

Breathing heavily, she looked up at Cielo and asked again:

“Daddy, you like Rona, right? You like me more than Nicholas, don’t you?”

“Hmm… What should I say? Daddy likes both Rona and Nicholas. Why do you ask, Rona?”

When he turned the question back on her, Rona stared at him with a pouty face full of dissatisfaction.

“Daddy’s mean! Why won’t you say you like me more?! Meanie, meanie!”

Rona let out a loud shout and ran past Cielo, straight into the clinic where Oscar was.

From the sound of her sobbing and wailing, something must have happened.

“Father.”

“…Uh, yes?”

“In times like this, you could just say you like Rona more.”

Nicholas, mature beyond his years, looked up as Cielo knelt down to meet his eyes.

“But Daddy likes Nicholas too.”

“Then you won’t be able to calm Rona down. And when she cries like that, it’s more annoying.”

…Was this really coming out of a five-year-old’s mouth?

Cielo gave a weak laugh, caught off guard. It was something he’d come to realize raising kids — children could sometimes throw out the most unexpected lines as if it were nothing.

“And even if you say that, I know it’s not true.”

“…”

“You always hug me and tell me you love me. How could I not know?”

After saying that, Nicholas planted a loud kiss on Cielo’s cheek.

“So please, go and tell Rona you like her more. Otherwise, Oscar Daddy’s going to be the one in trouble.”

Nicholas gently pushed at Cielo’s knee, as if urging him to go.

Cielo, still squatting, gave a nod and ruffled the boy’s dark hair as he asked:

“By the way, Nicholas, do you know why Rona asked something like that?”

Nicholas shook his head.

According to him, he’d been reading a book when Rona suddenly came up and yelled, “I’m better than you! And I’ll be even better!”

“Ah…”

Cielo could guess why she had said that. Letting out a short sigh, he stood up.

“Thanks, Nicholas. You know Daddy loves you a lot, right?”

“…Me too.”

Nicholas smiled as their eyes met, then gave Cielo another nudge to go.

Knowing it came from a place of shyness, Cielo chuckled softly and headed toward the clinic.

“Waaaaah, waaahhhh!”

Just as expected, Rona was in Oscar’s arms, crying her lungs out.

“Rona, Daddy’s here. Cielo Daddy is here.”

“Cielo Daddy is mean! Meanie! Waaah! Cielo Daddy said he doesn’t like me! Meanie!”

At this rate, she was going to lose her voice.

Concerned, Cielo rushed over and gently took Rona from Oscar’s arms.

“Daddy never said he didn’t like Rona. Who told you that? Should Daddy go scold them?”

“Waaahhh… uuuuugh… meanie…”

“Rona, look at Daddy. Am I mean?”

Rona buried her face into his shoulder, refusing to meet his eyes. She just kept crying and crying.

“I guess Rona thinks Daddy’s mean… But Daddy really, really likes Rona.”

“Hic… sniff… hic… Then… Do you like Rona more than Nicholas?”

“Daddy likes Rona soooo much. Does Rona think Daddy’s mean?”

Cielo subtly dodged the direct comparison in his response.

Had Rona been a bit older, she might’ve been more persistent about whether he liked Nicholas less…

Thankfully, she was still young enough to be tricked by his roundabout answer.

“Daddy… likes Rona?”

“Yep. Daddy likes Rona very much.”

“Even if… hic… I’m not an alpha like Nicholas…?”

At those words, Oscar’s expression, standing nearby,  suddenly hardened.
