Becoming the Terminally-Ill Villain Who Torments His Disciples - Chapter 17.2
Turning an Omega into an Alpha.
If you were unlucky, you might end up with neither trait and become a Beta. Worse, you might die panting from endlessly recurring heats.
Oscar knew all of this, and still took the medicine.
Because if the alternative was being hated by Cielo and thrown away, returning home, then not becoming an Alpha or even dying seemed better.
“He doesn’t hit me anymore… or yell at me… It’s like…”
Oscar trailed off and bit his lip.
Oscar bit his lip mid-sentence. He worried that if he said it out loud, the peace he had been enjoying might shatter.
But if this was a dream, it was better to wake up sooner.
Better than growing used to this warmth and forgetting the coldness the world had always shown him.
“I think he forgot that I might present as an Alpha. He looked so afraid when His Highness the Crown Prince released his pheromones…”
He was confused.
Oscar knew Cielo wasn’t a bad person, but lately, it felt like he had become a completely different one.
“Oh, that.”
“…”
“Hmm… seems like his memory is a bit jumbled.”
“His memory?”
Ryan explained that Cielo couldn’t remember everything from the past.
Not all of it, just in parts. Some pieces remained, but the rest were gone.
“I think he forgot why he came to hate Alphas in the first place.”
The moment he heard that, Oscar realized something.
It wasn’t Oscar that Cielo hated.
It was the Alpha trait itself that he despised.
Oscar’s chest tightened with emotion, but there was also pain.
“If Master’s memories come back… will he hate me again?”
“That’s what I’m a bit worried about too. I mean, I’m an Alpha too.”
Ryan gave an awkward smile.
After a moment of silence, he reached out and patted Oscar’s head.
“So if he gets his memory back, let’s make sure he remembers our time together as something happy.”
“Happy…”
“We’ll show him that living together is better than being alone. Who knows? Maybe he’ll think, ‘Alphas are awful, but those two are different.’”
Oscar slowly nodded.
He hoped that even if Cielo’s memories returned, he could still be loved.
He hoped he could keep hearing those soft “I love you”s whispered to him every night.
He hoped he could remain in the warmth of Cielo’s arms.
He hoped the hand that always stroked his head would never go away.
‘…I want to grow up quickly.’
He wanted to become an adult, someone who could walk alongside Cielo.
He didn’t want to always be the one being helped. He wanted to be the one who helped.
But Oscar was still too young for that.
“Lord Esteban, Lord Pascius’s parents have come asking to meet you.”
Just the idea of facing the people who had once thrown him into despair still scared him deeply.
FWEEET!
At the sound of the loud whistle, Oscar lost all sense of self and just cried.
But before long, the fear slowly faded.
Even though it had been painful, the lingering sensations vanished like a lie.
When Oscar realized he was in someone’s arms, he lifted his head.
Ryan was peeking into the room with a curious look.
“…Lord Doberman?”
“Shh. Look, Cielo’s getting angry.”
Still holding Oscar, Ryan quietly opened the door a little more to show him what was going on inside.
“You seem to have misunderstood something. I’m taking your son away from you.”
A voice cold as ice.
Even Oscar, who had spent a long time by Cielo’s side, had never heard him speak like that.
But to Oscar, every word he said sounded so warm.
“Congratulations. You’ve lost your parents and gained a new dad.”
Oscar’s heart pounded hard.
He no longer had to stand by the parents who hurt him.
He no longer had to return to people who only kept him alive because they couldn’t figure out how to get rid of him.
Because Cielo had defeated them and saved his life.
Oscar’s lips trembled.
It wasn’t because he was sad.
The tiny smile that formed expressed just how full and happy his heart was.
“…He’s not a new dad.”
“Hm? He’s not?”
“He’s… family.”
Oscar smiled.
If Cielo could one day think, “Alphas are awful, but those two are different,”
And if Oscar truly presented as an Alpha…
Then maybe, just maybe, he could get closer to Cielo in a slightly different way.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
His heart beat with joy.
