Becoming the Terminally-Ill Villain Who Torments His Disciples - Chapter 2.1
Cielo Esteban.
The owner of the body that Eunwoo possessed is a villain in “All I Wanted Was to Be Loved”. He was also the mentor and abuser of the main character, Oscar.
Everyone in “All I Wanted Was to Be Loved” possessed a special ability, and among them, the rarest healing power belonged to Cielo and Oscar.
Though they shared the same healing ability, Cielo wielded it with expert skill. In contrast, Oscar had only just awakened his power and could barely heal bruises.
Naturally, people believed Oscar needed proper training, and so Cielo, who had the same ability, became his teacher.
That’s when Oscar’s misfortune began.
Because Cielo abused him.
But the abuse didn’t last long. After Oscar met the “gongs”, the protective love interests, Cielo met his end at their hands due to how overprotective they were of Oscar.
“There’s no need to tell you how the villain ended. Just forget about him.”
Even Cielo’s death was vaguely brushed over, as if there were no need to know the details of a bad man’s demise.
‘I’m sure…’
With his chin resting on his hand, Eunwoo quietly looked at Oscar.
In the original story, Oscar was twenty. But the child in front of him looked to be around ten.
Which meant the story hadn’t begun yet.
‘If that’s the case…’
Maybe he could change the future.
In the novel, Oscar resented and hated Cielo all his life. Yet in the end, he still couldn’t completely sever his feelings for him.
‘But what if I don’t abuse him? What if I give him affection…?’
Then maybe Oscar could reclaim his broken childhood.
Maybe he could smile brightly like any other kid, instead of curling up in fear.
‘And maybe then… I won’t die.’
More than that, Eunwoo didn’t want to do the kind of things that hurt a child, regardless of his own survival.
‘…I don’t want to watch someone else go through what I once did.’
Abuse. Neglect.
Before being possessed, Eunwoo had to hold his breath just to avoid being beaten. He had to act mature just to feel a sliver of love.
And Oscar in the novel lived under the exact same conditions.
That’s why Eunwoo couldn’t stop reading, even when he wanted to vomit from the scenes of Oscar being abused by Cielo. He felt like if Oscar could meet someone and be happy, maybe he too could find happiness.
While Eunwoo was staring at Oscar with a bitter expression, a woman walked up to him and snapped coldly:
“If you’ve woken up, you can return to your room. There’s nothing more the infirmary can do for you.”
“…Room?”
Eunwoo repeated, but the woman didn’t reply. She just turned and walked away without a second glance.
Scratching his cheek awkwardly, Eunwoo looked around.
He didn’t even know where he was. If he left recklessly, he’d definitely get lost. And if he couldn’t even find his own room, he might be treated like a lunatic…
After a moment of hesitation, Eunwoo turned to Oscar and asked,
“…Excuse me.”
Oscar didn’t respond.
“Could I trouble you to show me the way to my room? My head still hurts a bit.”
Mimicking Cielo’s speech from the novel, Eunwoo spoke politely. Oscar’s eyes widened.
“You… You’re not going to abandon me? I-I won’t be thrown away?”
“I never said I would abandon you.”
At that moment, Oscar beamed with joy. But he quickly straightened his expression, coughed once, and fetched Eunwoo’s shoes from under the bed.
“I’ll escort you, Master.”
As Eunwoo slowly moved to get up, pain surged through his body. He clenched his teeth to endure it, and Oscar shyly offered his arm.
“P-Please… hold onto my arm.”
A skinny arm peeked out from a large sleeve. It was so thin, it looked like it might snap from a bad grip.
“…It’s fine.”
Eunwoo declined, and Oscar’s face fell in shock. Still, he didn’t insist. He quietly withdrew his arm and bowed his head.
‘Maybe I should’ve taken it…’
Eunwoo briefly regretted it but followed after Oscar, who began walking ahead as if guiding him.
After walking in silence for a while, Oscar stopped in front of a door engraved with ornate patterns. Taking two steps back, he bowed politely, signaling for Eunwoo to go in first.
Eunwoo opened the door and stepped inside. Oscar followed and immediately knelt in the corner of the room.
“…?”
What’s he doing over there?
Before Eunwoo could ask, Oscar spoke up in a timid voice…
“M-Master, I’m sorry for speaking without permission… I haven’t been much help… I can’t even control my power well… so…”
“…….”
“I-I’m very tired, so I’d like to close my eyes and get a little rest……”
Oscar mumbled nervously while glancing at Eunwoo. His voice trembled violently as he asked for permission, and with his eyes tightly shut, his expression looked like he was preparing himself to be hit.
