Poooooot!

The sound of a trumpet rang out long and loud. It signaled the return of those who had been away from their homeland for a long time, having gone to the battlefield.

Listening to the sound quietly, Cielo let out a deep sigh.

“The return is fine, but…”

He didn’t like the patients.

Cielo, looking at the wave of patients that had been pouring in since morning, dry-washed his face.

He had little interest in political affairs and had no idea what was happening, but apparently the long-running war had ended not too long ago.

“Did you hear? How can someone be so vile… They say he almost died on the battlefield and used his own subordinate as a shield.”

“Is that really true?”

“Yes! And that’s not all! They say the war was practically won, and then he showed up to stick a fork in it and made a mess that dragged it out for another three years. If it weren’t for him, how many knights might have lived!”

The people in the clinic muttered among themselves about the war.

While wrapping a bandage around the arm of a knight with a scrape, Cielo perked up his ears.

“They say he couldn’t even manage his own rut cycle and went into rut right in front of the enemy commander!”

“And when a sword was at his throat, he begged for his life. Can you believe it? Unbelievable, honestly…”

Everyone in the clinic was talking about the same person. It was a mystery who had even given someone like that a knighthood.

When Cielo clicked his tongue and returned after tending to a patient, he found Ryan at the desk with a twisted expression on his face.

‘Oh, right. He was a substitute knight.’

Ryan, from the Doberman family, had originally entered the Imperial Palace not as a healer but as a knight.

After various circumstances, he gave up his knighthood and remained at the palace as a trait researcher, though sometimes he was still called to hunt monsters or for military matters.

Because of this, Ryan harbored a deep hatred toward the person being discussed, who seemed to have thrown away all sense of chivalry.

“So who exactly is this bastard?”

“The crown prince.”

The moment he heard the name, Cielo made the same expression as Ryan. It had been quite a while since he’d even heard the word “crown prince,” and he had almost forgotten the man existed.

“He went to the battlefield?”

“You didn’t know?”

“I wasn’t interested.”

He had heard before that he was supposed to marry the man, but it wasn’t something happening right away, and he had been too busy thinking about Oscar to care about some petty noble.

Just as the gossip about the crown prince continued, a loud voice rang out in front of the clinic.

“His Highness the Crown Prince has arrived!”

The crown prince strode into the clinic, and the attendants, maids, and a few others awkwardly stood to greet him.

“You brat. I came, and you don’t even get up to greet me?”

But Eli, who had sold off any sense of decency, kicked the back of a patient lying in bed in pain.

“Aagh!”

Still, no one could step forward.

The tyrant of the Asta Empire.

The Calamity Born from the Stars.

That was the crown prince of the empire, Eli.

While Eli took out his anger on other patients, Ryan grabbed Cielo’s wrist and pulled him behind his back, whispering.

“Go out the back.”

“What?”

“That bastard definitely came here to see you. So go, now—out the back.”

Cielo looked toward Eli, who was shouting. The violent behavior, the way his voice rose to a near-shriek, everything about him was utterly repulsive.

“…Will you be okay alone?”

“You’re worried about me right now?”

At Cielo’s whisper, Ryan let out a dry laugh. Slightly bending at the waist, he spoke playfully.

“I’m dominant. He’s recessive. His Highness likes to overpower people with pheromones, so if I push back with the same, maybe he’ll enjoy it.”

“…And what if you end up on his bad side?”

“Don’t worry. He’s my cousin.”

Cielo blinked.

“Wait, even if he’s your cousin, by rank—!”

“Tsk. I said it’s fine. Just go. Up here. We’ll talk later.”

Ryan hurriedly pushed Cielo on the back.

But just as Cielo tried to go through the back door, Eli, while lashing out at a patient who hadn’t shown proper courtesy, suddenly released his pheromones into the air.

“Urgh…!”

The moment Cielo smelled it, he reflexively gagged. He had never reacted like this to another alpha’s scent, but Eli’s pheromones were uniquely revolting.
