Becoming the Terminally-Ill Villain Who Torments His Disciples - Chapter 59.2
Cielo had been frustratingly indecisive all this time.
Unable to properly manage a single emotion, he floundered and left Oscar waiting endlessly.
But if Oscar still said he would love him to the end, despite all that…
Cielo felt that, for the first time, he might truly believe he was someone worthy of being loved.
That he could be happy, too.
“Of course.”
“……”
“Spending time with you, Master, is far more important to me.”
At that bright smile and simple reply, Cielo’s eyes widened.
Thump, thump, thump.
The rhythmic beating of his heart echoed pleasantly in his chest.
At the same time, a warm breeze flowed in through the corridor’s windows,
like spring arriving at the end of a long, harsh winter.
* * *
‘I’m so nervous…!’
Oscar was acting no different from usual, yet now that Cielo had become conscious of him, just being in the same space made him tense.
“How much farther is it?”
Cielo swallowed dryly and looked out the small window in the carriage. But beyond the thickly planted trees, all he could see were more trees. There was no way to tell their exact location.
‘Even when I was with Ryan, I wasn’t this nervous…!’
So why did he feel like this?
Unable to bear even eye contact, Cielo pressed himself against the carriage wall. Oscar, noticing, looked at him with a face full of concern.
“Master?”
At the sound of his voice, Cielo flinched hard. Oscar, clearly confused by the unusual behavior, quietly kept his gaze on him.
But Cielo only grew more nervous and clamped his mouth shut, lowering his eyes. Oscar reached out his hand.
“The road ahead is supposed to get bumpier.”
He spoke briefly, then stood up from the opposite seat and came to sit beside Cielo. He gently pulled Cielo, who was still pressed to the wall, and rested his head against his shoulder.
“If you’re going to lean on something, this side is softer and won’t jolt as much.”
Obediently leaning against Oscar’s shoulder, Cielo swallowed another dry gulp. Normally, this wouldn’t even count as physical affection, but now that he was aware of it, everything felt awkward and stiff.
‘…Just calm down. If I start acting weird now, Oscar’s going to think something’s wrong.’
Muttering to himself internally, Cielo took a deep breath and cleared his throat.
At that moment, Oscar’s previously soft expression hardened.
“Master.”
“Y-Yes?”
Did he notice I’m acting strangely? As Cielo looked up in alarm, Oscar reached over and wrapped an arm around his shoulders.
“Oscar?”
“Something’s coming—”
Before Oscar could finish—
Boom!
A deafening explosion shook the entire carriage.
Cielo’s eyes flew wide open in shock. Oscar immediately tightened his hold around Cielo and tried to leap out of the carriage with him.
But—
“I can’t let you do that.”
A familiar voice pierced Cielo’s ear. And then, with a loud crack, the top of the carriage was completely torn away.
The horses pulling the carriage screamed and flailed wildly. The coachman holding the reins was flung out after barely holding on.
“Die.”
At Pielago’s cold command, a bird-shaped monster dove through the open roof of the carriage.
“…Oscar!”
At this rate, they’d both be killed. At the very least, Cielo had to ensure Oscar survived. If he escaped alone, Oscar could get away from this.
Cielo frantically pushed against Oscar’s chest. But instead of letting go, Oscar only pulled him in tighter and opened his mouth.
“Hold still.”
“Oscar, at least you—!”
But Oscar didn’t listen. He glared only at the incoming monster.
And then—
“Hold on tight.”
The moment those words left his lips, Oscar snapped his fingers.
Crack!
Lightning fell from the sky and struck the monster mid-air.
The carriage jolted violently as its wheels hit a rock. Cielo felt his body lift off the seat, cold wind slapping against his face.
And what came into view—
Was a steep cliff, so deep that the bottom couldn’t even be seen.
