#0.5

I am terminal.

I do not know the exact day or hour I will die, but I have long known that the time is not far away.

My body grows weaker day by day, and my senses become dull. They tell me that my death is near.

“You do not have much time left to live.”

“It would be best if you prepare your mind.”

Because I already suspected it, even when I received the final diagnosis, I did not feel fear or that I did not want to die.

Whether beast or person, even gods have a time when they die.

Just because that time has approached right in front of me, I have no intention of making a fuss now. I have no lingering attachment to life, nor the strength for it.

Rather, the thought that it will finally end made my heart feel lighter.

Not knowing how long I would live while waiting helplessly for death was the hardest thing in my life.

If I endure just a little more like this, if I wait just a little longer, it will be over.

I wish time would flow faster.

“This is strange.”

“They say you will die soon, yet your complexion looks better.”

The woman who came to see me every day tilted her head and asked.

Since I am dying, my complexion is not actually better, but she seemed to feel that my atmosphere had changed.

It was only natural.

Before, when I did not know when I would die, I had to endure vaguely. Now the day of my death is near.

The difference between having to endure vaguely and only having to endure a little longer, ironically, made my broken self feel quite lively.

The woman stared strangely at me and then smiled faintly.

“Still, waiting without doing anything is boring, right”

“How is it? Why not try playing a game as your last thing”

At her suggestion, I nodded without much thought.

“If it is this game, even someone like you who cannot move their hands and feet can play it.”

“As long as you have the will.”

It was simple curiosity.

Since she is rumored to be an incredible gaming addict, I was only curious what kind of game she chose to soothe my final boredom.

<Welcome.>

The world inside the game is modern Earth with a bit of fantasy mixed in.

All kinds of monsters that crossed through dimensional rifts overflow and drive the world toward destruction. It was an apocalypse game.

I became a nameless wandering god in that game and began looking around the world.

“It is the same, yet a little different.”

The terrain, races, countries and traits were clearly the same as Earth, but the basic settings were slightly different. Because of dimensional rifts, there were issues with the climate so that three of the four seasons were basically winter, or some country names were slightly different from what I knew.

But I was more interested in the characters living inside.

“They live hard.”

The characters in the game struggled to survive in a world heading toward destruction. Unlike me, who had given up everything and only waited for death, those in the game had undeniable vitality.

Among them, one boy especially stood out.

“Wake up, you idiots. Praying like that will not bring back the dead.”

A sharp voice came from the mouth of a skinny boy who looked barely past ten years old.

Even though he was being protected in a cathedral, the boy spoke with a twisted face to the other disaster orphans in the same situation.

“There is no god. If there was, would he have let those monsters kill our mom and dad”
