Something’s Not Right About This Transmigration - Chapter 5.1
‘This crazy bastard……!’
Frey clenched his fists as his fingertips tingled.
Why release pheromones in a cramped space without warning when he could simply have explained himself?
When Frey began to suffer, Samuel smiled gently and brought his pheromones under control.
“I trust that was enough for you to understand my meaning.”
Samuel returned to his usual courteous manner of speech, his eyes curving in a soft smile before he looked away. The displeasure emanating from his body, however, had not subsided.
‘No, seriously, what is wrong with him?’
Shouldn’t Frey be the one making that face?
Full of resentment, Frey exhaled the breath that had caught in his throat and opened the carriage window. Only after cold predawn air swept through the carriage could he breathe properly again.
“So what you’re saying, Your Grace…… cough! Ahem. You want me to heal someone. Is that right?”
Only a hoarse rasp escaped because of the pressure on his throat. Frey frowned and caught his ragged breath before speaking again.
“I’ll do it.”
“…….”
“I said I’ll heal them.”
If Samuel meant to marry him in order to have him heal someone, it was better to finish the task before the wedding.
Then Frey could demand the engagement be broken off in exchange for the treatment.
“I hope those words remain valid once we arrive at the mansion. Otherwise……. Well, I imagine you know better than anyone what will happen to you.”
Samuel looked away after that reply. He crossed his legs, propped up his chin, and stared out the window, apparently unwilling to speak any further.
‘What an obnoxious bastard.’
The novel had described him as a difficult character, but meeting him in person made one thing clear.
This man seemed a little insane.
It was especially obvious in the way he smiled and spoke politely while treating Frey so roughly.
‘No, this is actually better.’
Frey had only dealt with Samuel briefly, but the man seemed exceptionally willful. That meant he would probably pursue Frey relentlessly for the sake of his own goal, regardless of Frey’s circumstances.
‘I just have to heal the person.’
He did not know why the real ‘Frey’ had refused to heal the person Samuel wanted him to heal.
‘Frey’ was a noble and the future spouse of a duke. Some sort of power struggle might have been the reason.
‘If I heal them and run away, I won’t get dragged into a situation like that.’
So he would run away without fail.
He had to.
No sooner had he steeled his resolve than the coachman’s voice came from outside.
“We have arrived.”
Samuel climbed out the instant the man finished speaking, then looked back at Frey. He smiled and extended a hand as if offering an escort.
‘If you run, you die.’
His expression plainly said exactly that.
“The room you will use is the innermost room on the third floor. You will be served two meals a day, morning and evening.”
“What?”
“As I told you, you are forbidden to leave the mansion. If the Count visits, I may permit you to see him in the presence of a servant.”
Frey’s frown deepened with every word Samuel spoke.
“If this is urgent enough for you to come fetch me personally and even threaten me, isn’t it an emergency?”
“……?”
“Just take me to them now. I’ll heal them and leave. I have plans afterward too. Where are they? That way?”
Frey pointed toward the illuminated corridor within the mansion, then noticed a golden ornament in the corner.
Should he ask for one of those when he left after the treatment? If he did, it looked as though he really could eat well and live comfortably.
As Frey’s gaze rested on a golden flower, Samuel let out a disbelieving huff.
“You fled before, yet it appears you intend to do something this time.”
“Fled?”
“I don’t know what you’re scheming, but even if you heal that person, I can’t give you anything. That golden flower, for example. My mother was rather fond of it, so I cannot let you have it.”
