That Face Is the Problem - Chapter 2.1
It was definitely Da-in. Seo Da-in. The woman he had a crush on for three years. Her hair was a little shorter and her expression looked much more irritable, but it was unmistakably Da-in.
“Da, Da…!”
Jae-gyeong was so shocked that he stammered, and Da-in, who now had short hair, frowned and turned her head away. Her expression looked as if she might throw up if she had to look at his stupid face for even one more second. It was the first time in three years that Jae-gyeong had seen her make that kind of face.
‘Did Ms. Da-in transfer to the Training Guild too? Right before her wedding? Why? And on the same team? Would a lawyer even need to join a guild? Did she come because of my employment contract? Does she think I transferred because of her? She must think I am some creepy, weird stalker, so her expression probably soured. What do I do? I am screwed.’
Jae-gyeong could not even think of explaining anything. He only trembled with his mouth open. Seeing him like that, Jeong-eon spoke hastily.
“This is our team’s healer, Hunter Seo Da-sol. You must have been expecting a female hunter to join as the tanker, so you were only startled because he is a man. Please do not take it the wrong way, and we would appreciate it if you could avoid staring at Hunter Seo Da-sol for too long. Hunter Seo Da-sol gets extremely shy around strangers.”
“Seo Da-sol…?”
Not Seo Da-in? Jae-gyeong blinked. Seo Da-in. Seo Da-sol. Faces that looked so similar. He did not even need to ask to understand what was going on.
Come to think of it, he vaguely remembered hearing that Da-in’s younger sibling was a fairly famous hunter. But looking up the sibling felt too much like stalking, so he had intentionally never checked the hunter rankings. And in the first place, Jae-gyeong did not like the ranking system for hunters at all.
‘So he is Ms. Da-in’s younger brother.’
It was only a guess, but Jae-gyeong was certain he was right. They looked incredibly alike, and even their names fit a pair of siblings.
He straightened his posture and only shifted his eyes to the side, sneaking glances.
Da-in had thick, wavy dark brown hair. She had a small face, large and clear eyes, and her nose and lips were in perfect balance. She was gorgeous, had a good personality, and was popular everywhere she went, practically the celebrity of JK Guild.
Many hunters confessed to her only to be rejected, and a few even tried to bother her out of spite after being turned down. Of course, Jae-gyeong took care of those bastards quietly behind the scenes. He did not kill them, but he did discipline them physically.
Da-sol, who was ninety-nine percent certain to be Da-in’s younger brother, also had wavy brown hair like Da-in. Maybe because his hair was shorter, it puffed slightly upward, soft and fluffy like cotton candy.
Da-sol’s small face was filled with stunning, perfect features. His beauty was so genderless that it felt almost supernatural.
Hyeon Hee-ro, who was seated at the head of the table, was breathtakingly beautiful. Jeong-eon beside him had a strikingly handsome, masculine face. But… perhaps because he resembled Da-in, the only person Jae-gyeong could focus on was Da-sol. He did not know if it was appropriate to describe an adult man like this, but he looked like a fairy.
The differences compared to Da-in were his hairstyle, the overall colder atmosphere around him, and the strange pink tint in his eyes.
‘So it is because he is an awakened.’
Hunters with strong abilities often experienced appearance changes depending on their skills. The most common changes were eye color, but their hair color or build could change as well.
Since Da-sol was a healing-type hunter, it seemed his build did not change.
He is a man, yet he looks so small and delicate. He really is a man, right?
Da-in usually wore heels, so her short height was not obvious. Even so, among the tall, broad-shouldered hunters, she always looked small and slender.
Jae-gyeong glanced down under the desk at Da-sol’s feet, which were slightly lifted toward him because his legs were crossed. Da-sol wore sneakers with no heel at all. It did not look like he had any insoles either.
‘I am one eighty-five, so he must be about fifteen centimeters shorter than me.’
The height difference with Da-in in heels had also been exactly fifteen centimeters. Jae-gyeong forced himself to calm the sadness creeping in. This was his new workplace, and today was his first day. Crying was absolutely not an option.
Hyeon Hee-ro watched Jae-gyeong’s eyes repeatedly dart toward Da-sol and gave a small smile.
“Hunter Su-hyeok, who used to fill the tanker role, was a berserker. His wife recently gave birth to triplets, so he resigned entirely and plans to focus on childcare for a few years.”
“Ah… yes…”
