That Face Is the Problem - Chapter 26.2
“Everyone is really done for now! Da-sol oppa talks a lot, right? You’re fired up. Let’s go and fight fair and square. Stop bothering our new tank for no reason.”
“No, um… Da-sol, Ri-na, I really was wrong, but—”
“Be quiet.”
Da-sol cut Jae-gyeong off abruptly. He clearly had no intention of listening to Jae-gyeong anymore.
“He admitted he was wrong! Hey, did you ever hit Ma Jin-hwan in JK or not?”
“Ma Jin-hwan hunter…?”
Jae-gyeong did not really know the names of those he had punished. To him, they were just Han Man 1, Han Man 2, and Han Man 3.
“I don’t know the exact names, but… yes… I probably did hit them…”
Jae-gyeong admitted humbly. Strangely, every time he did, Da-sol and Ri-na’s expressions became angrier.
“Damn it, I said stop bothering our new tank!”
Ri-na aimed her bow directly at Gam-ja, giving him a stern warning. Jae-gyeong was about to stop her when a familiar voice, singing like a melody, reached their ears. It was Hyeon Hee-ro, the guild master of the Training Guild.
***
“You are not adolescents full of hormones, and legally hunters are prohibited from using skills outside dungeons. How can you disappoint me like this?”
Hee-ro asked with a frown, his eyebrows drooping.
The five hunters called to the guild master’s office stood in a line before his desk, heads bowed.
“Moreover, three people from Team 1 were involved in this fight. As a team leader, I am really embarrassed.”
Hee-ro softly admonished the three members of Team 1. Ri-na seemed like she wanted to say something but, intimidated by Hee-ro, kept her mouth shut.
“Determining who is right or wrong is not my role. I am neither a judge nor your teacher. Right?”
“Yes….”
“Yeah….”
The five hunters responded, everyone except Da-sol. Da-sol did not even move his lips once.
“You all know that even though we are on different teams, we are part of the same Training Guild, right? Conflicts within and between teams are natural. When many people gather, differences of opinion are inevitable, and different personalities are bound to clash.”
Hee-ro continued in a gentle voice.
“However, pointing weapons at each other and cursing in a hallway where everyone can see is another matter.”
He smiled slightly.
“All five of you, write a report explaining the incident.”
After Hee-ro gave the order, the five hunters filed out of the guild master’s office in a line.
Jae-gyeong found the situation both absurd and strange. I really did something wrong, I admitted it, and I tried to apologize, so why do Da-sol and Ri-na not believe me and get angry? And… Why do I feel… so good?
For the first time, Jae-gyeong felt teamwork and friendship in the Training Guild. Having teammates who blindly supported him and even risked fighting for him was overwhelmingly moving. And one of them was Da-sol. Da-sol!
The only things Jae-gyeong had heard from Da-sol before were:
‘Are you looking at me for comfort too?’
‘Ah, damn… you too?’
‘Ugh, this is really disgusting…’
‘Ah, really.’
‘You act like an idiot because you like me.’
Those words replayed like a panorama in his mind. Yet today, Da-sol had supported him unconditionally and even stood ready to fight another hunter.
Eventually, tears fell from Jae-gyeong’s eyes. He quickly wiped them away, worried someone might see. If Sang-min or Gam-ja mocked him or asked why he was crying, a third round of conflict would surely erupt. But even imagining it made his heart swell, and new tears welled up, replacing the ones he had wiped.
Naturally, his tears were quickly noticed by others.
“Why, why are you crying, Jae-gyeong! We didn’t do anything!”
Sang-min fidgeted, glancing nervously between Jae-gyeong, Da-sol, and Ri-na. He seemed eager to prove his innocence.
Surprisingly, Da-sol had no reaction this time. He had seen Jae-gyeong cry several times before. Instead, he grabbed Jae-gyeong’s arm and said to Ri-na:
“We are going to the dorm, so you handle yourself.”
“Okay.”
That was the anticlimactic end to the gym duel at lunchtime. Jae-gyeong was led by Da-sol’s hand back to the dorm.
