That Face Is the Problem - Chapter 45.1
Jae-gyeong’s question seemed to leave Da-sol momentarily speechless. He looked slightly shocked.
“Why are you answering me?”
“Huh…? Uh….”
“Are you picking a fight now?”
“N-no? You usually ignore me or just say ‘Ah, really,’ but this time you actually answered me, so I was curious… I’m sorry…”
“No need to apologize. I just happened to hear you, so I answered. Is that not okay?”
Da-sol explained casually and asked. Jae-gyeong shook his head. Even though he was shorter and had to look up at Da-sol, Da-sol’s presence felt terrifying. If he said it wasn’t okay, it felt like Da-sol might kill him on the spot.
“It’s not okay… I’m actually thankful…”
“Thankful for what?”
“Ah… nothing… never mind…”
While Jae-gyeong fumbled through his awkward response, Hee-ro and Jeong Jeong-eon got out of the van. Their lips were a bit redder than before. Ri-na muttered next to him, “Ugh.”
“Shall we go upstairs?”
Hee-ro smiled as if he were entering his own home.
***
“I thought Da-sol would go straight to his own house. This is surprising.”
Hee-ro said in astonishment. Usually, Da-sol would have gone straight to his own place, but today he followed Jae-gyeong into his home. Then he sat on the sofa as if he were the owner.
“Oppa, have you ever been to Shintang’s place before?”
“No.”
“What…?”
Ri-na also naturally looked at Da-sol, who had sat first on the sofa. It was uncharacteristic of him.
However, Da-sol spoke indifferently, without changing expression.
“The layout is exactly like my place, so it just feels like home.”
“True, that makes sense. It’s the same line of buildings.”
Yejin kindly agreed and awkwardly sat on the living room floor. Jeong Jeong-eon also sat near Yejin, while Hee-ro wrapped his arm around Jeong Jeong-eon like a cicada clinging to him. Lee Hyeon just sat in the corner of the sofa.
The real owner, Jae-gyeong, stood awkwardly, unsure what to do, until Hee-ro gestured to him.
“Jae-gyeong, come sit here too. Should we order delivery? You’re discharged and recovered, but no alcohol for you, okay?”
“Oh, delivery sounds good! I want to eat the super spicy tteokbokki.”
“That’s too spicy. I can’t eat that.”
“How about sashimi?”
“But sashimi tastes best with soju…”
The team immediately got noisy talking about the menu. Jae-gyeong, unused to seeing so many people in his home at once, just stood and watched.
Then Da-sol tapped the empty space next to him on the sofa.
“Sit here.”
It was clearly directed at Jae-gyeong. And the words came from Da-sol, the A-rank healer, a 27-year-old male. Not from Hee-ro, Jeong Jeong-eon, or Yejin.
The room suddenly went quiet.
“Why does this feel so familiar?”
Yejin whispered. Ri-na answered.
“It feels like when Da-sol oppa called Jeong Jeong-eon oppa a ‘friend’ three years ago. Creepy… We even said back then that maybe Da-sol oppa was possessed…”
“Right, that was it… it’s the same feeling.”
Hee-ro and Jeong Jeong-eon were equally surprised. They did not exaggerate their reactions like Ri-na and Yejin, but their eyes seemed to communicate silently.
But the most shocked person was undoubtedly Jae-gyeong. He felt dizzy, like his eyes were spinning.
‘Did Da-sol just tell me to sit next to him? Why? Why is he acting like this today? Answering me properly, making space for me…’
Strictly speaking, he wasn’t exactly answering properly, nor was he deliberately making space, but Jae-gyeong, who knew Da-sol’s usual behavior, could not help being surprised.
He foolishly walked across the living room floor, weaving between the seated team members, and sat next to Da-sol. He sat stiffly like a wooden block, making the other team members laugh.
But Jae-gyeong did not care. Every cell in his body reacted to Da-sol sitting next to him. His heart trembled again, and he felt dizzy from the intensity.
‘What was the last conversation we had? Did I say something particularly flattering?’
But no matter how he thought back, all he could remember was Da-sol politely rejecting him. Even though he had not confessed, Da-sol seemed to have sensed it and rejected him, prompting Jae-gyeong to declare once again that he would not love anyone. Ah, that must be it.
Jae-gyeong’s face suddenly brightened. He seemed to understand why Da-sol had suddenly become kind and gentle. Da-sol must have genuinely understood Jae-gyeong’s statement about not wanting to love anyone anymore. That was why he thought it was okay to lower his guard around Jae-gyeong.
