That Face Is the Problem - Chapter 49.1
“Hmm, well, there is no need to apologize…”
Da-sol muttered to himself. He tapped the table lightly with his fingers before continuing.
“Anyway, I wanted to finish saying what I couldn’t say earlier when the caretakers came…”
“Yes…”
“Listen while the pork cutlet cooks.”
“Oh, yes…”
As Jae-gyeong turned to listen attentively, Da-sol immediately spun him back around. He must have really wanted the pork cutlet.
“Listen while the pork cutlet cooks.”
“Oh, yes…”
Jae-gyeong put on an apron and carefully placed the pork cutlet in the air fryer. Seeing Jae-gyeong start cooking again, Da-sol spoke.
“I know hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong is timid by nature, and even if I try, there are many things I still fall short at.”
“….”
Da-sol was someone who could objectively analyze others and himself. Jae-gyeong silently operated the air fryer and prepared other side dishes and rice.
“So I thought, maybe I should give hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong priority for healing.”
At that, even Jae-gyeong had to look at Da-sol.
“Priority for healing?”
“Like when we enter the Mirror Dungeon, we can make a sign for ourselves. When I need healing, I just send the sign, and you immediately heal me, no questions asked.”
Da-sol paused mid-sentence and twitched the corner of his mouth. He seemed a bit displeased.
“Why did I follow you in the Mirror Dungeon last time? I knew there would be a situation where I needed healing, so I followed, even though it was annoying. But instead, you ended up covering me. I didn’t get a chance to heal at all.”
“You did heal me. I remember…”
Jae-gyeong clearly remembered how desperately Da-sol had clutched his face, pouring healing just before almost fainting. Da-sol covered his mouth with his hand.
“Well, that was just at the very end.”
He hesitated, then lowered his hand and crossed his arms. Leaning back arrogantly against the chair, Da-sol asked somewhat irritably,
“So, do you like it or not? Healing priority.”
“It means I just send the sign and you heal me first, right?”
“Yes.”
“Of course I like it…! It’s perfect…”
Jae-gyeong replied as if the question were obvious. His face brightened, and a faint smile of joy appeared. Da-sol looked at Jae-gyeong briefly before turning his gaze sharply away.
“Then fine. We’ll do it that way. Let’s decide the sign after we eat.”
“Yes, that’s good…!”
“Got it.”
As Jae-gyeong kept saying ‘good,’ Da-sol felt a strange emotion. He was slightly annoyed and felt awkward looking directly at Jae-gyeong.
“I’m hungry.”
Da-sol said bluntly. Though rude, Jae-gyeong, wearing an apron, smiled like an angel and waved his cooking chopsticks.
“The pork cutlet will be ready soon! I have a can of corn, so I’ll just make a salad with it.”
“…Do you have kimchi too?”
“I have napa cabbage kimchi and kkakdugi. I’ll get them all out…”
Their tastes matched perfectly. Da-sol thought to himself.
His mouth was already watering, and a small growl came from his stomach. Earlier, he had been annoyed when the ceiling collapsed while he was about to order pork cutlet delivery, and his upstairs neighbor had made a fuss.
Then he remembered Jae-gyeong. The entire apartment had lost power, and he wondered if Jae-gyeong had been surprised. Of course, Jae-gyeong was a strong adult male attacker-class hunter, so probably not scared, but who knows. He might have been scared and crying. That line of thought led Da-sol to leave the broken ceiling and head to Jae-gyeong’s house.
He had already been thinking about healing priority. While Jae-gyeong was in the hospital, Da-sol had considered his personality deeply. He concluded that no matter how close they were, Jae-gyeong would endure pain quietly and would not come asking for healing.
Improving the relationship required effort from both sides, considering Jae-gyeong’s personality. That’s how the idea of healing priority came about.
And as expected, Jae-gyeong welcomed it. Until now, whenever entering a dungeon, he couldn’t get close to Da-sol or even look at him properly, and it was pitiful to see him struggling. Granting healing priority would make Da-sol more at ease.
Ding. The air fryer beeped, signaling the cooking was finished. Hot steam rose, carrying the rich aroma of fried food.
Before Jae-gyeong could move, Da-sol sprang up like an assassin-class hunter, swiftly placing the pork cutlet onto plates and taking sauces from the fridge, drizzling them generously.
“I’ll get the kimchi too.”
