That Face Is the Problem - Chapter 49.2
While saying that, Da-sol took the plate from Jae-gyeong, served the napa cabbage kimchi and kkakdugi, and even neatly placed the fork and knife on the table.
It felt just like the week-long training camp they had shared. Back then, even during meal prep, their coordination was perfect. They did not speak much, yet their teamwork had been excellent. Thinking about that, Da-sol figured that giving healing priority through signs would work quite well.
“Here is the rice and salad…”
Jae-gyeong placed the heaping bowl of rice at Da-sol’s spot. Da-sol felt happy. It was not just because he was getting more food or pork cutlet, but because he sensed that Jae-gyeong was quietly and subtly taking care of him.
When people liked someone, they often showed it too obviously. Excluding the openly obnoxious ones, people’s faces would turn red, they would stammer, or smile at Da-sol as if he were cute. That was a bit annoying, but still tolerable.
There were countless ways to show affection physically: stroking the head, linking shoulders, pinching cheeks, brushing hands lightly, massaging arms, touching chest muscles because they seemed firm. Thinking about it now made Da-sol shudder.
Just as Da-sol cheerfully picked up the knife and fork, he suddenly clenched his fists and gave a fierce look, which made Jae-gyeong’s expression drop immediately.
“Why, why are you doing that? Is something wrong? Do you want more rice? You can eat more if you want…”
“No, it’s not that… I just remembered some disgusting guys from the past. It’s not because of you, hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong.”
While eating, Da-sol explained the terrible physical affection some guys had shown him in the past. Jae-gyeong’s face gradually turned pale. He furrowed his brow and even opened his mouth wide in shock. When he heard that one of them had touched Da-sol’s chest, he even dropped his fork. Just as Da-sol’s mood lifted from seeing this dramatic reaction, Jae-gyeong suddenly stood up.
“Wait, how… those hunters are still all at the Training Guild?”
Da-sol looked up at him in surprise. He had assumed Jae-gyeong was just a curious observer, but he was genuinely angry.
“Well, I beat some of them and kicked them out, the guild master handled some, but a few are still there. You know, those ugly ones who were like tamers back then… they are still around.”
“Yes, hunter Oh Sang-min… who else is there?”
Jae-gyeong sat down again and asked seriously. His usually gentle face had become unusually sharp, which made Da-sol find it oddly amusing. He pretended to ask seriously.
“Why? So hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong will scold them if I tell you?”
Scolding anyone? Jae-gyeong would probably get beaten up and end up crying. Da-sol tried to suppress his laughter but Jae-gyeong spoke firmly.
“Of course. Continuing to act that way despite being told not to is violence.”
Da-sol was slightly surprised. He had rarely heard Jae-gyeong speak so clearly and decisively.
No, it wasn’t completely unfamiliar. When Da-sol had been in the Mirror Dungeon and Jae-gyeong had shielded him, he had given off a similar aura: absolute determination to protect someone with no compromise.
“…How would you scold them?”
Da-sol put down the cutlery and crossed his arms. Surprisingly, he found Jae-gyeong more interesting than the pork cutlet.
“Just a warning. Telling them not to do it. I could even lightly nudge them on the shoulder if needed.”
Suddenly, Jae-gyeong looked away, embarrassed, and trailed off. Da-sol chuckled.
“You’ve done that a lot, haven’t you?”
“…Well, back at the guild… there were guys who acted mean after being rejected by someone they confessed to… so a little…”
“Oh, really?”
Da-sol quickly lost interest and picked up his fork and knife. Jae-gyeong continued speaking regardless.
“Anyway, if anyone acts like that again, tell me. It’s better I warn them and end things peacefully than you seeing it and getting upset again.”
“Why would hunter Jeong Jae-gyeong do that? Handling guys who pestered someone you liked at your previous guild, why would you show that skill here to me? It makes the listener feel bad.”
“Excuse me? No, no, that’s not… I had no intention at all―”
“The pork cutlet will get cold. Just eat quickly.”
Da-sol realized immediately. Jae-gyeong had just been angry, but not because of him—it was because of a woman Jae-gyeong liked at the previous guild. As mentioned, Da-sol had an exceptional ability to read people’s hidden intentions, and he had just understood Jae-gyeong’s heart.
