That Face Is the Problem - Chapter 50.1
After devouring the pork cutlet, heaping rice, corn salad, and kimchi, Da-sol got up from the table first.
“I’ll go home and grab my toothbrush and pajamas.”
Then he walked out swiftly. More than half of Jae-gyeong’s pork cutlet was still left.
It was clear that Jae-gyeong had somehow upset Da-sol, but Jae-gyeong did not fully understand why. Still, seeing that Da-sol planned to sleep here, it seemed he was not that angry.
‘I must have messed up again…’
Jae-gyeong thought out of habit as he slowly cut and ate the still-hot pork cutlet.
‘I didn’t mean “handle those guys” in a bad way…’
‘Looking back on it, if someone else “handled” those guys for him, wouldn’t that actually be a good thing? So why is Da-sol angry?’ The chewing motion grew stronger as Jae-gyeong gnawed on the pork cutlet.
‘He knows I meant it in a good way… so why does Da-sol always twist it negatively and get mad? By now he should know I’m not like the other guys…’
His thoughts extended that far. Then Jae-gyeong’s hands froze while slicing the pork cutlet. His eyes widened, and the grayish black pupils seemed to tremble.
‘Ah, it’s because I’m a guy…!’
It was a strange conclusion, but Jae-gyeong had good reason to think so.
Da-sol disliked men. Jae-gyeong was a man. Therefore, no matter how much Jae-gyeong tried, Da-sol would feel an insurmountable wall of dislike. Seeing someone like that offer to “handle” the other men might have seemed almost mocking.
‘I see…’
Jae-gyeong quietly put down the fork and knife.
He had no intention of confessing to Da-sol anyway. His heart did race when he looked at Da-sol, but he did not want to investigate what that feeling was. Also, he was mindful of Seo Da-in and the fact that Da-sol’s strong aversion might have already created a barrier.
Still, if the only reason he was already “rejected” was that he was a man, that was a little sad.
‘No… Da-sol dislikes women just as equally…’
Whether you called it fairness or not, it seemed Da-sol simply disliked humans in general. If someone like that was putting effort into him, he should feel grateful.
But human desire is deep and relentless. Jae-gyeong decided to turn his frustration toward his own longing for more.
He got up, threw the leftover food into a garbage bag, cleared the table, and began washing dishes with a gloomy expression.
Meanwhile, Da-sol returned. He silently watched Jae-gyeong washing the dishes, then went into the bathroom and closed the door.
Just a moment ago, the atmosphere had seemed good. Jae-gyeong, hearing Da-sol brushing his teeth from afar, scrubbed the sauce off the plates.
Meanwhile, Da-sol clenched his eyes shut as he brushed his teeth in anger.
‘Why did I get mad at Jeong Jae-gyeong like a loser? Damn, I acted like such a pathetic man…’
‘Why would he use his past experience handling guys who bothered the woman he liked at the old guild on me? It makes the listener feel bad…’
‘Why had he even thought that?’ Da-sol could not understand himself. Just hearing those words, he resembled Hyeon Hee-ro, jealous of Jeong Jeong-eon . It was exactly the kind of thing Hyeon Hee-ro would say. On top of that, he had dashed out like he was running away. Da-sol spat out the toothpaste foam in his mouth.
Even while packing his things at home, he probably banged his head against the wall several times. For someone like Da-sol, who rarely had mood swings and tended to blame others rather than himself, this was unusual.
He knew Jae-gyeong liked a woman. He had cried so openly during the first guild dinner that it was impossible not to know. Da-sol even thought it was lucky that Jae-gyeong was straight. “He still hasn’t forgotten her, stupid guy,” he thought.
However, Da-sol also keenly noticed that Jae-gyeong’s gaze toward him was gradually changing, and that his feelings were shifting toward Da-sol. This made him uncomfortable. He did not like it. He wanted to curse at him and, when the chance arose, punish him as usual.
But, as before, Jae-gyeong did not show it. People who did not make a show of themselves were not irritating. From Da-sol’s perspective, that was one of the few virtues humans could have. Jae-gyeong possessed that virtue.
So Da-sol tried to calm himself, but… why did it annoy him that Jae-gyeong had liked a woman before? It should have been a relief. Jae-gyeong was not completely gay, so he might like another woman. Then why was he so irritated?
