“I am a healer, so I often come here for protective items. The guild gives some out, but I know best what suits me. We can choose ours the same way.”

Da-sol seemed very familiar with this kind of situation. It felt strange to Jae-gyeong that someone who hardly shopped online or at all would come here, receive VIP treatment, and pick out items. This was a side of Da-sol he had never seen before, which made the atmosphere feel different.

The staff brought coffee and snacks without hesitation, and the items were carefully placed in velvet-like boxes, lined up as if they were treasures.

This one has such and such function, that one is for this purpose, this one is particularly helpful for healers, and this one was once used by a famous knight who barely survived death… Jae-gyeong pretended to listen attentively to the manager’s smooth explanation, but all his attention was on Da-sol.

Da-sol listened seriously. He was not overly interested, not as kind as the manager, but not rude either.

“We can skip the disposable items. We need something to keep in contact as a pair. Something simple like a radio function would be good. Is there an item without distance or dimensional limits?”

“In that case, we can remove half of these…”

The manager selected a few items, handed them to another staff member to return to their places, and spread the remaining three on the table for better visibility.

“All the items I showed you just now have no distance or dimensional limits. Only the number of uses was limited, so I removed those. These remaining items meet your requirements, but differ in form. This is a ring, this is a necklace, and this is a watch. The design is no different from high-end brand jewelry.”

The manager then brought the ring and the watch closer.

“The necklace might be inconvenient to take out of combat gear, so I recommend these two. The ring reminds people of couple rings and is popular among paired hunters, while the watch is usually bought by those who each already have a partner.”

The manager smiled jokingly. Da-sol did not smile, so Jae-gyeong matched him with a quiet smile.

The ring cost 29.99 billion won per pair, and the watch was 50 billion per pair.

The watch was much more expensive, but knowing Da-sol, he probably would not choose the ring. Jae-gyeong reached for the box with the watch first. It was a large men’s watch with a metal strap, equipped with a time function and radio communication. Tiny holes for sending and receiving signals were under the round face, but it looked like a luxury watch. Well, it practically was.

But really… Can we swipe 50 billion on a corporate card? Are we going to get caught…?

Jae-gyeong fiddled with the watch box while checking Da-sol’s reaction. Da-sol, however, confidently picked up the small case with the rings.

“Let’s go with the rings.”

“Huh…?”

Jae-gyeong was surprised and spoke aloud without thinking. Was even 50 billion too much for Da-sol? But Da-sol calmly explained his reason.

“The watch is too large. It could break during combat. The ring is lighter and simpler for communication. You just speak to the mana stone.”

“Ah… th-true….”

“I usually try to spend more of the guild’s money, but the ring will be more convenient. Let’s go with the ring.”

“Alright….”

Jae-gyeong released his hand from the watch box. The manager observed them with a smile for a moment before asking,

“We can adjust the size immediately. Which finger should we fit for each of you?”

Da-sol hesitated briefly. The manager looked as if expecting them to choose the ring finger. Surprisingly, Jae-gyeong answered firmly.

“Right thumb for me.”

“Why?”

Jae-gyeong extended his right arm forward as an explanation.

“I will wear a shield on my left arm, so it is difficult to bend it to speak into the ring. Bullets could graze the right hand, so it must be on the thumb, tucked inwards.”

Da-sol inwardly admired him. In that brief moment, Jae-gyeong had considered practicality and appearance for actual combat. He had worried that Jae-gyeong might choose the left ring finger, but now he felt a strange mix of guilt and embarrassment while looking at the manager.

“Then I will also choose the right thumb.”

He added a small excuse while glancing at Jae-gyeong.

“I also wear a shield on my left arm.”

“Understood….”

Jae-gyeong seemed unbothered. Da-sol cleared his throat. The manager, still professional, took the ring box and disappeared inside.
