Jae-gyeong continued to fulfill his role as the tanker diligently. Since this was the first session coordinating as a team, he had to use all his skills.

First, Angel’s Judgment was a skill that allowed aerial combat and summoned an arm gun capable of drawing monster attention and delivering powerful area attacks.

Second, Divine Shield functioned similarly to a B-rank shield item. It created a massive, sturdy shield that blocked attacks directed at his teammates.

Jae-gyeong used this skill multiple times to block ambush attacks from monsters. In fact, it was a passive skill that activated automatically when a monster entered range, so he did not have to consciously use it each time.

“Wow, this skill would save a lot of items.”

Ye-jin exclaimed in admiration.

“It will also help protect the healer,”

Jeong-eon added. Da-sol, the healer himself, did not say anything.

Jae-gyeong felt a quiet sense of pride. In his previous team, the healer especially appreciated this skill. Thanks to Jae-gyeong’s skill, the healer could bear less burden and not rely too heavily on the defensive hunters.

Back then, the healer and Jae-gyeong were arguably the closest among the team. The tanker at the front handling attacks and defense naturally collaborated frequently with the healer who treated wounds. The paladin class itself was similar to a healer, which made coordination easier.

Moreover, Jae-gyeong’s quiet and polite personality made those around him feel comfortable, something the previous healer highly valued.

If only Da-sol considered me a necessary tanker for him…

No… it is not really about that. If teammates are mutually needed, that is good. It strengthens teamwork.

Jae-gyeong muttered this vague excuse to himself.

The skill that truly made the healer’s work easier was the last, third skill, Guardian Spear.

“The last skill might surprise you a little.”

Guardian Spear was a special skill. It was not difficult to use, but it could cause psychological shock, so a warning was necessary.

“I am not particularly fond of this skill myself…”

Jae-gyeong took a deep breath and stood before the boss monster that had appeared. Since this was a mock training session and mainly to showcase his skills, the other teammates had all stepped back behind him.

“Even though it is a virtual monster, it will still deal damage. Be careful, Jeong Jae-gyeong.”

“Yes, thank you…”

Jeong-eon’s thoughtful warning from behind warmed his heart. As expected from the Representative of the Hunter Association… not just anyone could do this. Swallowing his respect for Jeong-eon, Jae-gyeong turned to face his teammates, making eye contact with each one. This was a condition for activating the skill.

Some immediately recognized it, while others looked puzzled. Finally, when he looked at Da-sol, he nervously swallowed. Da-sol did not avert his gaze nor frown, but stared back with the emotionless expression known as the deadpan stare.

At last, Jae-gyeong spoke.

“[Guardian Spear].”

And… nothing happened.

“Huh?”

“Um… what’s going on?”

“Did anything change?”

Ah, he forgot to explain. Jae-gyeong hurriedly spoke.

“This skill allows me to feel the pain of injuries that my teammates take. Anyone I recognize as a teammate can fight without feeling pain. Of course, it cannot prevent actual bleeding, so the teammate is still at risk, but it is useful in critical situations or against boss monsters. I do not use it often, though…”

“Oh my, that is dangerous.”

Ye-jin recoiled.

Yet such self-sacrificial skills were common among paladins. After all, the class included the word ‘holy.’

“You may try it as a test.”

Jae-gyeong stepped aside and let the boss monster approach the teammates. Hee-ro stepped forward without hesitation.

“I’ll make just a scratch. I will control the skill, so don’t worry too much.”

It was actually fortunate that Hee-ro offered to test it. Without a skilled hunter controlling the attack, Jae-gyeong could experience significant pain even in a test scenario. Moreover, if one cannot feel pain, it could create a dangerous situation, so team agreement was crucial.

Hee-ro was a marksman who could freely manipulate water. As he extended his hand, a spear made of water appeared. He lightly jumped above the boss monster’s head and sliced its ear.

[Uooooh!!]

The boss monster’s ear shook, signaling it had taken damage. The wounded monster then began its attack. Hee-ro deliberately hovered in front of it, allowing the monster to strike lightly as part of the test.
