The Saint Wants to Rest - Chapter 11.1
In a situation like this, the person the Director looked for was always the same.
“Where is Yoon Tae-gyeom!”
The secretary standing nearby replied instantly.
“He has already gone to the Blue House.”
“Right, then things will be fine soon.”
A thick hand wiped the cold sweat from the Director’s forehead. To him, Yoon Tae-gyeom was practically a symbol of faith. Though young, he was meticulous and never caused the Director unnecessary trouble. Knowing he was at the scene gave the Director a sense that this matter would somehow be resolved.
Yoon Tae-gyeom frowned at the scene before him. The partially collapsed Blue House was being restored rapidly. With Awakened mobilized for the repairs, the speed of construction was incomparable to ordinary work.
‘I wanted to speak more with Hong Seo-yun.’
It wasn’t that he particularly wanted to strengthen his friendship with Hong Seo-yun. He wanted to squeeze information out of him to prepare for keeping Ian safe. Hong Seo-yun claimed Ian had been dragged to another world; there was no law saying the same thing couldn’t happen again. One could never be over-prepared.
But in the midst of that, trouble had occurred at the Blue House. Yoon Tae-gyeom had no choice but to leave Hong Seo-yun behind and come here.
On the night of the incident, Awakened from both the Management Bureau and the Haetae Guild were guarding the Blue House. Among them were two A-rank Awakened—one from the Bureau and one from Haetae. Despite their different affiliations, both were reliable professionals.
They were not the type to leave an opening when protecting a high-profile figure.
“You’ve arrived!”
One of them, Yoon So-ra from the Management Bureau, bowed her head. As her surname suggested, she was a distant relative of Yoon Tae-gyeom.
“Yes, Ms. Yoon So-ra. What happened last night?”
He would have to meet the President eventually, but he wanted to hear the details of the incident first. Yoon So-ra explained the previous night’s events with a disciplined attitude.
“Nothing happened.”
“The Blue House collapsed, though?”
“Yes. The anomaly is that absolutely nothing happened.”
Last night was perfectly peaceful. Awakened had been standing guard just in case, but it wasn’t a period where anything was expected to occur. World leaders had already signed treaties agreeing not to threaten each other’s national security.
Still, since madmen appeared occasionally, Awakened were required to guard the Blue House.
“There were no intruders, and no strange noises were heard. The security guards moved along their usual routes. If there had been even a hint of something strange, the Awakened from the Haetae side would have noticed.”
The other A-rank Awakened from Haetae was a physical-type ability user, the most common type. However, he had exceptionally sensitive hearing. Because of this, he was the first person called whenever there was a security job.
“The Seers didn’t say anything either.”
There were Awakened who could occasionally catch a glimpse of the immediate future. Usually, such people were mobilized to prevent Gate accidents. There were those with prophetic abilities in Korea as well, but even they failed to foresee the incident at the Blue House. This meant it was a truly exceptional accident.
“What did the President say?”
“Well…” Yoon So-ra hesitated for a moment before continuing. “He says he is fine.”
It didn’t make sense. The Blue House had collapsed, yet he was fine? Just as Yoon Tae-gyeom was feeling suspicious, a loud exhaust note echoed from behind. A yellow convertible sports car sped toward them and screeched to a halt, and Jeong Yeon-hwa, the Guild Leader of Haetae, stepped out.
Wearing a leather jacket and studded boots, her hair—which had been purple the last time he saw her—was now pink. To think she was the leader of a guild yet lacked such dignity. Yoon Tae-gyeom clicked his tongue instinctively.
“Seriously, Mr. Yoon Tae-gyeom, why do you click your tongue every time you see me?” Jeong Yeon-hwa asked with a sly smile.
“You misheard.”
“The reaction is the same every time, too.”
Approaching him, Jeong Yeon-hwa casually placed a hand on Yoon Tae-gyeom’s shoulder. He shuddered and quickly moved away from her. Only then did she shrug and get to the point.
“Haetae hasn’t found anything special. They say the moonlight was particularly bright that night, but we aren’t poets, are we? So what if it was bright?”
No matter how great an Awakened was, they couldn’t control the moon.
“Does the Bureau have any new information?”
“No. None.”
