The vampire spat out red saliva along with insulting words, but it never reached Vermouth. This was because Vermouth had already torn the mouth that dared to jabber so recklessly.

“Oops. Now you cannot speak, can you?”

Vermouth brought over a severed piece of Arachne’s upper body and tossed it next to the vampire. The blood flowing from the carcass was absorbed by the vampire, causing his torn mouth to fuse back together.

“You, you crazy bastard!”

The vampire trembled violently. He was merely a low-level demon, but he could recognize a Holy Knight of Regnasia. Furthermore, he knew there was only one Holy Knight with such an appearance.

“Vermouth!”

As he shrieked the name, Vermouth twisted the corners of his lips. He was a celebrity among the demons.

“Very well. Now that you know my identity, you must know what happens next.”

“I don’t know, I don’t know!”

No, in truth, he did know. Since his death was already predetermined, he ought to pray for a peaceful passing. To achieve that, he had to confess every bit of information he knew to Vermouth. However, the command of the mother who created him still remained within the vampire’s instincts.

He had been told to perform his job correctly. He had been told not to lose to a mere human.

“Aha, you are someone who enjoys making things complicated. Fine then.”

Vermouth took off his gloves and rolled up his sleeves.

“Then I shall gladly join you in that endeavor.”

The vampire’s face turned deathly pale. Vermouth had served as an Inquisitor in the past and possessed artistic skill when it came to disassembling demons. If demons dropped humans into hell after tormenting them, he was someone who could make such demons beg to be killed instead.

Thump.

The vampire tried to squeeze his eyes shut. However, he could not close them. This was because Vermouth had made it so. His blood boiled, and his skin turned inside out. He thought he was immune to most forms of pain, but that was merely a delusion. He screamed that he would tell Vermouth everything.

However, Vermouth did not listen.

“I do not believe the words of demons.”

The pain continued lingeringly after that. It lasted until just before the time it would take for Vermouth to set a new world record for clearing the A-rank Gate, Arachne’s Mirror Labyrinth. Soon, the vampire spoke as if vomiting everything out.

“O Goddess Regnasia, grant a peaceful death to this pitiful, evil species.”

The vampire spoke. Though the Demon King had died in Regnasia’s world, the successor to the Demon King had survived. As a stepping stone for the revival of the demons, they had decided to seize a new world. And that world was Earth.

“Hehe. Soon, a massive door will open here. A gate to hell that this world alone will not be able to handle.”

Vermouth looked straight into the eyes of the vampire, who was shouting even while his limbs were grotesquely twisted from the torture. It was the same smile of the Holy Knight that the people who cheered for the hero used to see.

“My Saint is merciful. If the world screams, he will eventually appear. You are simply bringing that moment forward more quickly. If that is the case, I will be able to meet the person I love sooner.”

“You crazy bastard.”

“Are not the ones who are crazy you demons, who make a habit of slaughter?”

With those final words, a pure white flame erupting from Vermouth’s hand burned the vampire until not even ashes remained. He elegantly brushed his disheveled blonde hair back and headed toward the newly appeared Gate exit.

‘Ian, I will be able to see you soon.’

As Vermouth exited the Gate, his eyes flashed with a violet madness.

The new S-rank Awakened of Korea set a world record in clearing Arachne’s Mirror Labyrinth! By this point, Vermouth’s fame did not stop at the domestic level. Foreign countries began to take notice of him as well.

This was especially true for nations with a great greed for talented individuals. China, the United States, and Japan. They had snatched away several Awakened who appeared before Korea’s Management Bureau was properly established in the past. Of course, one could not say that was entirely bad. They had provided the naturalized Awakened with enormous amounts of money.

Later on, Korea also offered various benefits to retain Awakened, but they could not bring back those who had already been taken.

“Is there no way to bring him over?”

“Indeed. From what I see, he isn’t even Korean, is he?”

“But he is a romanticist. He said the person he loves is there.”

“Love is something that can change.”

Vermouth’s fame only continued to rise day by day.
