The Saint Wants to Rest - Chapter 17.1
The intense international interest led to deep agony for the President and endless overtime for Yoon Tae-gyeom.
“We absolutely cannot let him be taken by another country!”
The President desperately wanted Vermouth to remain in Korea. Consequently, he issued an order to grant Vermouth anything he desired. The moment Yoon Tae-gyeom heard this, he thought to himself:
What more can we possibly give him?
Vermouth was already being provided with the absolute best of everything. The luxury hotels, high-end protocol vehicles, food, clothing—everything filled his house cost an astronomical amount. Watching it all sometimes made Yoon Tae-gyeom feel a surge of bitterness.
If they had been like this from the start, those other Awakened wouldn’t have left for overseas!
Hong Seo-yun, who had carved out some time for a brief visit, seemed to feel much the same way.
“Wow, it’s exactly like you said.”
“What is?”
“You said he’s like a Disney princess.”
“I take it back. Even a princess wouldn’t act like that.”
Yoon Tae-gyeom rubbed his forehead with a look of exhaustion.
“Anyway, how’s the baby?”
Since saying the name might allow others to overhear, they had decided to use a different term of endearment.
“He’s doing well. He seems to have nightmares occasionally, but he eats well.”
“That’s a relief, then.”
“It is. I just wish he could feel at ease soon.”
Hong Seo-yun’s gaze turned fierce for a split second. He had spotted a vehicle arriving at the Management Bureau entrance. An ordinary person would only see a car, but through the tinted windows, his eyes could see the person inside.
“Is that the bastard?”
“I told you not to go around calling people ‘bastards’ recklessly. What if he hears you?”
“Let him hear.”
Yoon Tae-gyeom had called Hong Seo-yun over to hear news about Ian, but dealing with him was proving to be equally exhausting. Yoon Tae-gyeom shook his head and pushed Hong Seo-yun’s back.
“Just go already.”
“Why? You don’t want to hear more about the baby?”
“I’ll try to find time to visit.”
“Got it. The baby is waiting, so make sure you come, okay?”
As Yoon Tae-gyeom turned around after seeing Hong Seo-yun off, Yoon So-ra, who had been standing in a corner of the room, was staring at him with a dazed expression.
“Uh… huh?”
For someone who was an A-rank Awakened, she had even gone so far as to spill her coffee.
“What is it? Are you feeling unwell?”
Even Awakened could get sick sometimes. Yoon Tae-gyeom asked kindly, momentarily showing his side as an older cousin, but the answer he received was beyond imagination.
“Oppa, do you have a baby? Are you expecting? Whose baby is it!”
He had no idea why she was talking such nonsense after a good meal.
“I don’t even have a girlfriend, how could I have a baby?”
“But just now! Hong Seo-yun oppa said it! He told you to come see the baby! Don’t tell me… did Hong Seo-yun oppa cause an accident? I wouldn’t put it past him. Definitely not!”
“Yoon So-ra.”
“Yeah?”
“Stop talking nonsense and clean up the coffee you spilled. Hong Seo-yun is single too.”
“Liar!”
“It’s true. In fact, he’s a lifelong soloist.”
At that, Yoon So-ra let out a small sigh. She wondered why all these perfectly fine-looking young men were single. Seeing how they refused even when she offered to set them up on blind dates, she wasn’t sure if they would ever get married.
Well, plenty of people don’t get married these days anyway.
Yoon So-ra decided to worry about herself rather than her cousin and wiped the floor. She had hoped to relax with a coffee after lunch, but all her time had vanished. Once it was time to work, she was dragged around by Yoon Tae-gyeom, following a schedule packed down to the minute.
When calls came from overseas, they responded by concealing as much information about Vermouth as possible. Meanwhile, they had to gain Vermouth’s favor to keep him settled in Korea. That was currently the extent of what they could do.
“I suppose it’s a relief that he officially said he has no intention of going abroad.”
Vermouth had stated he would not leave the country where the person he loved resided. Love is truly great. However, while that reason may have lessened the love calls from overseas, this time, the domestic situation was the problem.
Every famous guild in the country wanted to meet Vermouth. And Vermouth dumped all of those requests onto the Management Bureau. Thanks to that, meeting all the guilds and fending them off became Yoon So-ra’s job. It wasn’t that Yoon Tae-gyeom was playing around either, but fatigue naturally accumulated.
“Sigh.”
And in the midst of all that, something happened.
***
While sitting in front of the computer sipping an energy drink specifically for Awakened, someone suddenly slammed the door open and burst in.
“Oh my god!”
Startled, Yoon So-ra cried out, and the person who burst in shouted:
“Look at the sky! Look at the sky!”
“The sky?”
Confused, she approached the window to check, and the sky looked strange.
“What is that?”
Near the banks of the Han River, a bizarre phenomenon had appeared in the sky. A black disc, shaped like a spaceship, was settled in the sky, glowing. At first glance, it looked like a wide black circle, but if one focused their mind and looked closely, something could be seen writhing inside.
“Yoon So-ra!”
Then, Yoon Tae-gyeom came running and grabbed her.
“An S-rank Gate has appeared!”
