The Saint Wants to Rest - Chapter 18.1
“For now, we cannot expect assistance from other nations in the current situation.”
Yoon Tae-gyeom spoke firmly. The world’s attention was focused on the newly appeared Gate. They claimed they would send personnel to verify and inspect the Gate, but among them, there were few capable Awakened. They simply did not want to sacrifice their own country’s Awakened.
This is why one cannot fully trust even an alliance. Therefore, it was crucial for domestic Awakened to gather their strength for the time being. Fortunately, South Korea imposed an obligation to enter dungeons in exchange for providing various benefits to Awakened, including tax exemptions.
Even so, it was impossible for no complaints to arise in such a situation. Those gathered here also continued to speak in order to somehow minimize their losses and secure profits.
Yoon Tae-gyeom was too busy dealing with them to notice Vermouth’s actions. Ever since the introductions ended, Vermouth had kept his eyes fixed on Choi Jae-heon. It was not a gaze filled with mere curiosity. At the strange look that seemed to be evaluating him somehow, Choi Jae-heon also glared sharply back at Vermouth.
“Is it that man?”
The only family member Ian said he missed so much. However, according to what Vermouth had found out, Choi Jae-heon and Choi Ian were not even listed on the same family register. Although Choi Ian’s parents had brought in and raised Choi Jae-heon, the son of a friend, they had not officially adopted him as family. The reason was unknown, but because of that, the two were not full brothers.
Vermouth found that irritating.
Ever since that time Ian had told him about Choi Jae-heon.
“No, you crazy bastard. I said he’s my hyung! Even if we aren’t related by blood, we are family. You nutcase, your eyes have gone wild again!”
Every time that happened, Ian would deny they were anything else and smack Vermouth’s forearm.
“Do you sleep with your brother? Do you?”
What had been Vermouth’s reaction upon hearing that? He had looked down at Ian with an expression as if he wanted to vomit.
“What kind of crazy nonsense are you talking about?”
“I feel the same way, you lunatic!”
Ian said that and this time smacked Vermouth several times in succession.
“Please stop.”
“I don’t want to. I’m going to hit you more.”
“Then use this.”
With that, Vermouth handed Ian a short whip.
“What is this now?”
“Doesn’t it hurt your hand to hit me? I made the handle from the bone of a young lamb’s kin, so it will stay intact no matter how much you strike with it.”
“Ha, seriously, why are you so far gone?”
Ian let out a sigh and picked up the whip, throwing it far away. It was an expensive whip made by requesting a Dwarf artisan, but Vermouth did not particularly dwell on it.
“If the whip is uncomfortable, shall I give you something else?”
“Forget it. It’s not like you’ll get hurt anyway. Come to think of it, if you get hurt, I’m the one who loses out, right? Ah, there was one more thing I wanted to argue about. You, why did you come back injured after facing those Hobgoblins last time? It was on purpose, wasn’t it? Does it make sense that someone who could crush them to death with a finger got injured?”
Ian’s anger flared up once again. To that Ian, Vermouth presented a second item he had prepared.
“I prepared another tool in case you disliked the whip.”
This time, it was a thin and sharp dagger. The tip was coated with a poison that could even kill a dragon, so even someone like Vermouth would have no choice but to suffer damage if stabbed. Ian threw it on the floor and kicked it away.
“You really do all sorts of things. Seriously!”
Ian screamed, but even that sight looked cute in Vermouth’s eyes. Vermouth debated whether to give him the third thing he had prepared but held back. If he went any further, Ian might refuse to see him for several days.
Ian had a unique talent, which was naturally blending into any environment. If he made up his mind to hide, even Vermouth found it difficult to find him.
“Do not get hurt.”
“Yes, if that is what you wish.”
Vermouth answered obediently while thinking to himself. Perhaps next time he should try having an arm torn off. That would likely increase the time spent in contact with Ian. Since he liked the kiss they had last time very much, he wanted to try even more if possible. Though he knew Ian would be revolted if he found out.
At that point, Vermouth folded his past recollections.
In the meantime, Yoon Tae-gyeom obtained the promise of cooperation from the Guild Masters and collected their signatures on the documents.
“I ask the Guild Master of Stigma as well.”
At those words, Choi Jae-heon also looked over the documents and signed them.
“Mr. Vermouth will also be participating this time.”
