The tension between the two was such that they might start a physical brawl at any moment, causing the reporters who had been trying to draw close to scramble back. There was a saying about a shrimp’s back breaking in a fight between whales, and indeed, people had been injured just by being in their vicinity before.

“No, that’s not it! For now, can’t you just get people to back off?”

“That crowd?”

Yoon Tae-gyeom asked with a slight tilt of his head. It seemed information about the sudden spike in the gate’s difficulty had spread faster than expected. The area in front of the gate was bustling with Awakened and reporters alike, with soldiers interspersed among them.

They appeared to be setting up a defensive line in case the gate ruptured.

“Then at least let me slip away alone.”

In Hong Seo-yun’s  words, Yoon Tae-gyeom gave a refined smile.

“You know that’s bullshit, right?”

“Fuck. I know, but just do me this favor.”

“Why?”

Hong Seo-yun subtly shifted his body to reveal Ian  to Yoon Tae-gyeom. Upon seeing him, Yoon Tae-gyeom’s pupils wavered like crashing waves. He remained silent for a moment before turning around.

“The white tent to the west. It’s empty.”

As soon as those words left his lips, a curtain of water rose, momentarily veiling them from the public’s view. Thanks to that, Hong Seo-yun was able to secretly enter the tent Yoon Tae-gyeom had mentioned along with Ian.

In truth, it might have been better to disguise him as a guild member to get him off-site, but Hong Seo-yun didn’t want to be apart from him for even a second. Fearing he might lose the kid he had finally found after years, Hong Seo-yun chose the more cumbersome method.

The first thing Hong Seo-yun did upon entering the tent was set Ian down and examine him meticulously. Only after checking Ian’s entire body for any potential injuries did he finally let him go.

“Sit down for now.”

Inside the tent stood a large table and a sofa that exuded a classical, antique vibe.

“Man, you could tell this was Yoon Tae-gyeom’s tent even if you were running past it.”

Everything matched that guy’s fastidious tastes. What a luxurious preference to have on a battlefield. Still, thanks to that, he was able to settle Ian onto a comfortable sofa.

“Let’s see.”

If it was Yoon Tae-gyeom, he would certainly have brought something to drink. After scouring the tent, Hong Seo-yun managed to find a thermos. It was Yoon Tae-gyeom’s habit to drink black tea before entering a gate.

“Look at that. Look at how this cup is shaped.”

Eventually finding the teacups as well, Hong Seo-yun poured tea for Ian.

“Thanks.”

“Don’t mention it. Just drink. We’ll talk after you’ve had some.”

Possessing an extraordinary resistance to heat, Hong Seo-yun swallowed the hot tea in one gulp—a feat no ordinary person could mimic. Ian, on the other hand, took a slow sip before setting the cup down.

“Hmm.”

Hong Seo-yun’s leg was shaking restlessly. It was clear he had a mountain of questions but was holding back out of consideration for Ian. Thus, Ian decided to speak first.

“You have a lot you want to ask, don’t you?”

“A lot. So many!”

A large hand swept through his red hair. When Ian had first seen Hong Seo-yun, only the tips of his hair were red, but now it was entirely crimson.

“Did you dye it?”

At the sudden question, Hong Seo-yun shook his head.

“No, an Awakened’s body can change depending on their ability. That’s why it got redder, I guess.”

Hong Seo-yun let out a sigh and finally brought up the topic he had been dying to ask.

“Ian. Where have you been all this time?”

If he had disappeared due to something terrible, Hong Seo-yun had no intention of forgiving the perpetrator. To him, Ian was that precious of a younger brother. He, along with Yoon Tae-gyeom and Choi Jae-heon, had raised the boy with the utmost care. Yet, that child had gone missing, and they had lived for five years without even knowing if he was alive.

“Um, as for where… Seo-yun hyung. Do you watch anime or read comics?”

“Ian. You and I have even gone to a comic book cafe together, remember?”

“Ah, right. We did. Then the explanation will be much easier.”

Ian clapped his hands together and continued.

“So, how should I put this? I was dragged to another world.”

“What? What did you just say?”

“I said I went to another world.”

“Are you talking about a Gate?”

“No. An ‘Isekai.’ You know, those settings in comics. Where they summon a Hero or a Saintess from another world to save the realm.”

Hong Seo-yun stared at Ian with a dumbfounded face.

“There are… stories like that, yeah.”

“That’s what happened to me.”

No, this is insane! Hong Seo-yun desperately swallowed a curse. What kind of power did their “baby” have that they summoned him just to use him! His fists clenched involuntarily with rage.

“You… were an Isekai Hero?”

“Ah, not a Hero, but a Saint.”

Fortunately, it seemed he wasn’t in the position of a Hero who had to fight on the front lines. Still, something felt off. If Ian really had acted as a Saint in another world, what exactly was his ability?
