The Villain’s Aide Has Run Away - Chapter 84.1
Leslun’s back hit the cold window frame. Before he could even register the chill against his spine, Kailos stepped closer.
With both hands on the window frame, Kailos leaned his upper body toward Leslun. He was close enough for Leslun to feel his rough breath.
The bright sunlight pouring in through the window lit Kailos’s face. There was no forced expression there, only raw honesty.
Every shadow carved by his sharp features, the flicker of light and darkness under his lashes —all of it was laid bare.
Because Kailos had said he would show him something, Leslun had assumed he had prepared something or would try to persuade him with words.
But the Crown Prince did nothing. He merely revealed himself entirely in the light.
Leslun suppressed the urge to escape from him. At the same time, he realized he did not want to push him away.
He noticed the shadow of the window frame stretching across the floor. It felt like a cage keeping him trapped, yet strangely it also felt like a safe nest.
His blue eyes, always clear and bright, seemed to shine an even deeper blue today. In those blue depths, only Leslun was reflected.
“I admit that I made a mistake.”
Kailos finally spoke. His voice, which had been staring into the empty air, trembled faintly.
“You are a very good person. On the other hand, I am a foolish one.”
Leslun instinctively averted his eyes at the self-deprecating words. Embarrassment surged all the way up to his throat.
“I might have even been jealous of you.”
“How could Your Highness feel that way about someone like me…”
Compared to him, Leslun had always felt lacking.
“Leslun, you should look at me.”
Kailos’s voice pierced right next to his ear.
“If I must keep looking at Your Highness’s face, I think I have seen enough.”
“No. You must look.”
Even though Leslun, his voice trembling, said it was enough, Kailos spoke with absolute firmness.
Soon, Kailos slowly raised his hand and gently held Leslun’s chin. Then, he carefully turned his face toward him. Their gazes met once again.
“Because I want to start over from the beginning.”
“What do you mean?”
Leslun cautiously asked again.
“Our relationship.”
Kailos said firmly, then seemed to remember something and hurriedly corrected himself.
“I am not saying we should go back to how things were. I only wanted you to see me as I am now.”
Was that why he had made him look at him?
Suddenly, Leslun wondered how honest he had been with Kailos. Could he truly face the Crown Prince with his head held high?
Wasn’t it true that on the day they first met, he wanted to run away because he knew the Crown Prince was destined to be the final villain?
“This was never meant to be given to you in a moment like this…”
Kailos spoke with a hint of regret and took something out from his breast pocket. Between his tightly clenched fingers, a glint of metal shone.
It was a pen he had never seen before. The nib was finely crafted and elegant, followed by a clear pen barrel. The ink inside caught the sunlight and glowed faintly.
“I wanted to carry a piece of sunlight with me. What do you think?”
Kailos’s voice trembled ever so slightly. The moment Leslun realized that the sunlight he spoke of was him, a strange heaviness filled his chest.
His breath caught. Joy and sorrow welled up together, threatening to spill over as tears.
Perhaps it had been easier when he chose to believe Blue and misunderstand Kailos. At least back then, there had been no hope.
Now, the more he became aware of his feelings for Kailos, the more painful it was — and the more desperately he longed for him. It burned, it ached, it was a yearning too deep for words.
“Let us start again.”
Kailos’s eyes softened. Leslun stared into them, his own gaze wavering.
It was a smile that was honest and natural. Leslun decided to trust that smile and let his heart lean toward him.

After summoning Blue to his room, Kailos stood with his arms crossed, looking down at him with a chillingly cold expression.
The pressure in the air matched the title of Crown Prince, heavy enough to crush. His blue eyes glinted like sharp blades, yet Blue remained unbothered.
He slowly swished his long tail against the floor as if to display his annoyance, one eyebrow slightly raised. The Crown Prince had set countless people inside the palace searching for him, leaving him with no choice but to wake from his sleep.
“Why did you do it?”
Kailos opened with sharp words. The tone felt like an interrogation, and Blue glanced toward the door.
