The Villain’s Recipe - Chapter 20.1
“Sorry?”
Seong Mi-na threw the lump of metal she held in her hand just like a shot put. Kang Sa-hyeok tried to dodge it quickly, but his body wouldn’t move. No, to be precise, it had just slowed down slightly. But that slight delay brought a crisis.
“Ugh!”
Blue flames blazed, blocking Kang Sa-hyeok’s front. However, no matter how strong the firepower was, it was nearly impossible to melt a flying chunk of metal all at once with a single blow.
Thud!
Along with a heavy sound, the arm that had blocked the blow broke. Next, Ryu Seo-ho moved. While Seong Mi-na drew Kang Sa-hyeok’s attention, he intended to completely kill Lee In-su first. However, Kang Sa-hyeok, gritting his teeth, desperately protected Lee In-su even while being attacked by Seong Mi-na.
“Ouch, ouch!”
Lee In-su ran around desperately and thought. At this rate, it would be better to follow the Management Bureau. At least state institutions didn’t kill someone right away just because they committed a crime. That was because there was something called law in the world. At some point, he had hidden behind Kang Sa-hyeok.
“…Ha.”
Kang Sa-hyeok let out a low breath as he looked at such an In-su. The smell of burning flesh, the smell of blood, and a thick, fishy water scent mingled and pierced the tip of his nose. Because he had come without receiving proper guiding, his head ached as if it were splitting the more he used his ability. Even so, Kang Sa-hyeok could not give up.
‘I have to find him.’
From his childhood, he wanted to find the friend who had stayed by his side. He didn’t want to let go of the connection from the period when he was the only one who could be pure. For that sake, he could do things even worse than this. The color of the bluish flames began to gradually turn white.
“Ah, hot!”
Lee In-su let out a scream as if in agony. It didn’t matter anyway. Even if the man got burned, as long as he could somehow get hold of the corpse, that was enough. In the first place, Kang Sa-hyeok had no good feelings toward Lee In-su. And he wasn’t a good enough person to help such a man with good intentions. His justice was somewhat different from heroes found in fairy tales.
Good and evil must be separated, and there was no need to treat evil like good. Therefore, he intended to eliminate all the evil right now. White flames soared as if going berserk, illuminating the surroundings. When he gritted his teeth against the pain and desperately controlled his ability, a sound that didn’t fit the place began to be heard.
Fur Elise.
It was a tune everyone knew, but it wasn’t the original; it clattered strangely as if it had been arranged. It felt like a large cat stepping on piano keys.
“Yes, I’ve answered the phone.”
Then a man in a suit holding a large black long umbrella revealed his appearance. Judging by his exterior, he looked to be in his late twenties to early thirties.
“Ah, yes. Yes. It hasn’t finished yet. From the looks of it.”
The man’s gaze touched Kang Sa-hyeok and then fell away.
“The Management Bureau has poked their nose in.”
Then Seong Mi-na shouted excitedly.
“Vice-leader!”
Ma Jin-cheol raised his hand toward Seong Mi-na and continued his call.
“I’ll handle it that way. If it doesn’t work, well, it can’t be helped. I’ll call you after resolving it.”
Nodding his head and hanging up the phone, Ma Jin-cheol first bowed his head to Kang Sa-hyeok.
“It’s been a while.”
The worst opponent had appeared.
“Mr. Kang Sa-hyeok. Even now, the world is suffering because of wicked people. They are ruining the world by conducting human experiments.”
Kang Sa-hyeok looked at Ma Jin-cheol without any answer.
“I will give you a list of domestic companies that routinely conduct human experiments. Instead, wouldn’t you give up on Mr. Lee In-su?”
Ma Jin-cheol politely proposed a compromise to Kang Sa-hyeok. However, hearing that, Kang Sa-hyeok couldn’t even manage a laugh.
“Does a criminal dare talk about compromising?”
“If you don’t compromise, do you have any other way?”
The four people gathered here were already veterans at fighting together in cooperation. Just how much effort had they put into maintaining an organization called ZERO? No matter how much of an S-rank he was, Kang Sa-hyeok could not secure a complete advantage.
“Besides, looking at you now, you look like you’re right on the verge of going berserk.”
