Wrong Genre! - Chapter 15.1
The next day.
Felix draped various clothes over Rueg’s shoulders as he woke up.
“This one suits you best.”
Felix nodded to himself with a satisfied expression as he put a beige cashmere shawl on Rueg.
When Rueg looked up at Felix with a puzzled face, Felix crossed his arms and said,
“With this, at least you won’t be cold. You can wear it over your uniform, so keep it on.”
“You’re… giving this to me?”
“Yes. After all, it’s partly my fault that you got sick.”
Felix stroked Rueg’s cheek with a gentle smile, as if he was relieved that Rueg had recovered completely in just a day.
But the more Felix acted this way, the heavier Rueg’s heart grew with guilt.
“…I-I’m sorry.”
“For what?”
“You must not have been able to get much work done yesterday because of me. Even though I’m supposed to be your aide, I keep making you help me instead…”
Even now, Felix was looking after Rueg. When, as the aide, Rueg should have been taking care of Felix’s health.
As Rueg bowed his head, Felix reached out and lifted his chin.
“At a time like this, shouldn’t you be saying something other than ‘I’m sorry’?”
“…Sorry?”
“Think about it.”
Rolling his eyes as he thought, Rueg finally spoke cautiously.
“…Thank you?”
At those words, Felix smiled softly as if Rueg had given the correct answer. His curving red eyes were so beautiful that Rueg’s face flushed bright red.
“Your face is red. Maybe your fever hasn’t fully gone down…”
“N-No!”
At the sight of Felix’s approaching hand, Rueg hurriedly stepped back four paces.
Rueg opened and closed his mouth several times, not knowing what to say, then spun around and dashed out of the bedroom, shouting,
“…B-Breakfast. I’ll go get breakfast!”
* * *
“Terrible male lead. Wicked male lead. His face is a weapon, honestly…”
To use such a stunning face like that… It was hard to even describe him as merely handsome. Rueg was honestly starting to worry that, at this rate instead of Versha, he’d be the one to fall completely for Felix and cause trouble.
“And I can’t exactly tell him not to smile, either…”
Mumbling to himself, Rueg stopped walking and touched his lips.
He didn’t clearly remember the sensation, since it had happened while he was in and out of consciousness, but…
“It’s basically the same as having kissed another man… Was he not disgusted by it…?”
His heart thumped a little faster than usual.
“No, that’s not it. I’m his aide… His Highness is a good person, so he only helped me, that’s all.”
If Felix had really wanted to kiss him, wouldn’t he have lingered, even for a second longer?
Trying to convince himself with that negative train of thought, Rueg shook his head and gripped the shawl tighter in his hands.
‘Stop thinking about it.’
If he kept dwelling on it, he’d end up walking around all day with a face as red as a beetroot.
Rueg shook his head vigorously, took a deep breath, and left the Crown Prince’s Palace. He looked around just in case he might run into Yuri today as well, but he didn’t see a trace of him, not even the edge of his uniform.
“Well, I guess it’s not like we made plans in advance…”
Maybe next time, Rueg thought, he’d try talking to Yuri first.
With that vague thought, Rueg started walking toward the dining hall.
That was when it happened.
“Isn’t that Verdic over there?”
“I, I think it is…? What’s Verdic doing here?”
“I heard a rumor that Verdic started living in the palace, and it looks like it’s true.”
“Ugh, to run into a Verdic first thing in the morning. What a way to ruin your appetite…”
Hearing the whispers directed at him, Rueg’s eyes widened as he glanced over to see someone making a show of gagging. The moment their eyes met, the person immediately turned away.
“What’s she planning to stir up this time…”
The words were full of unmistakable hostility, the look and tone suggesting that just sharing space with ‘Versha’ was intolerable.
Since entering the palace, no one had openly shown such animosity to Rueg before.
‘Was it only because I was always with His Highness…?’
Whatever anyone said, it was a fact that Versha was the Crown Prince’s aide.
“Don’t make eye contact. What if she suddenly snaps and comes at you like a mad dog?”
“Yeah, didn’t they say last time that someone got their cheek bitten, too?”
