‘As expected, maybe you really do need this level of speaking and kindness to be the male lead of a novel.’

Sniffling as his nose started to run from the cold, Rueg trailed along after Felix.

As Rueg followed Felix, his eyes widened at the increasingly lavish corridors.

If they kept going this way, wasn’t this the way to Felix’s bedroom… Just as he had that thought, Felix, as if confirming it, opened the door to his own bedroom and went inside.

“…Your Highness?”

Felix tugged Rueg by the wrist and pushed him into the small attached bathroom.

“Wash up here.”

“Here?”

“What, you want to go to the public bathhouse instead? Then go ahead, if you want.”

I’d rather just go home and wash… Rueg barely managed to swallow down the words rising in his throat.

Of all days, this was the day he’d officially agreed to start living in the imperial palace, and since he’d already moved his luggage, he had no excuse to go back.

But to go to the public bathhouse instead…

‘If I went into the women’s bath, I’d obviously be called a pervert, and if I went into the men’s bath—’

“Versha Verdic was a man?!”

…he’d end up hearing something unnecessary like that.

So there was really no choice but to wash up here. Rueg, making up his mind, caught Felix’s arm just as he was about to leave the bathroom.

“Um…!”

“What.”

“C-Could I borrow some clothes? I have extra clothes in the dormitory, but I haven’t unpacked yet…”

Rueg mumbled, and Felix let out a long sigh.

Looking up at those red eyes, Rueg couldn’t help but feel Felix was looking at him as if he were utterly pathetic.

* * *

“I worked so hard! And not a single word of praise.”

Hmph, tch, hmph.

Sitting in the bath, Rueg grumbled as he slapped the water’s surface with his palm. Splash! Splash! The wide bathroom echoed with the sound.

“I mean, I only got sent to do cleaning because I was bad at my job, but still…”

Would it kill him to give just one word of praise?

Rueg pouted as he fiddled with the rubber duck Felix had handed him, slowly looking around.

“It really is huge…”

Earlier, he’d rushed to get undressed because he was so cold, but now that he had time to look, even the private bathroom of a high imperial noble was lavish and spacious.

No matter what they did to the mirror, even with all the steam rising from the hot bath, it didn’t fog up, and the floor was laid with that famously expensive marble.

And even when he walked on the wet floor, it wasn’t slippery at all, which he found amazing.

“Schumann likes baths too…”

Now that he was older, he loved soaking in warm water to relax.

Maybe that’s why, since he got cold easily, all the firewood was piled in his room. Schumann’s face that morning had looked even more gaunt than usual.

“Please go, Young Master. Stay as long as you can, if possible. No particular reason… but you have to make lots of money, don’t you? Hahaha, hahahaha, hahahahaha!”

He’d said that while hiding a letter behind his back…

“It’s probably a promissory note, not a letter.”

It seemed like there were dozens of them Versha had left with instructions to hang them in Rueg’s name as soon as she left work.

‘Just wait, Schumann. I’ll make lots of money and spoil you!’

If he ever built a bathroom like this at the Verdic estate, Schumann would love it!

With a fistful of determination, Rueg made up his mind to work hard again tomorrow, took a deep breath, and stood up.

Now that he was warm enough, it was time to get out. It was late at night, and lingering in Felix’s room as his aide would be inappropriate.

So when Rueg left the bath and began drying his wet torso with a towel…

“Hey, Verdic. Here’s something to change int—”

Felix, not bothering to hide his annoyance, flung the bathroom door open.

“Uh, uh…”

And Rueg, still dripping wet, stood there facing him.

Felix’s red eyes glanced at the tips of Rueg’s short hair, then at his flat chest.

And when his gaze inevitably dropped to Rueg’s groin—

“…A man?”

“Gyaaaaah!”

Rueg let out a piercing scream and quickly covered his lower half with the towel.

…He’s screwed.
